본 연구는 정신장애인의 낙인이 회복과 사회적응에 부정적 영향을 미친다는 기존연구를 근거로, 지역사회 정신장애인의 내재화된 낙인이 회복태도와 사회적응에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 내재화된 낙인이 회복태도를 매개로 사회적응에 미치는 경로에서 사회지지의 조절효과를 검증하였다. 이를 위해, 정신건강서비스를 이용하는 정신장애인 227명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 수집된 자료는 SPSS와 PROCESS Macro 3.5 프로그램을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과, 정신장애인의 내재화된 낙인은 회복태도와 사회적응, 사회지지와 부적 상관관계이며, 정신장애인의 회복태도와 사회적응, 사회지지는 정적 상관관계를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한, 정신장애인의 내재화된 낙인은 회복태도와 사회적응에 정적 영향을 미치며, 회복태도는 내재화된 낙인과 사회적응과의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타나, 내재화된 낙인은 사회적응에 직접적 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라, 회복태도를 매개로 간접적 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 마지막으로, 정신장애인이 인지하는 내재화된 낙인이 회복태도를 경유하여 사회적응에 미치는 영향 관계에서 사회지지의 조절효과를 검증한 결과, 내재화된 낙인이 회복태도를 매개로 사회적응에 미치는 영향이 사회지지의 수준에 따라 조절되는 것으로 나타나, 사회지지의 조절효과가 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 보고되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 정신장애인의 내재화된 낙인과 사회지지가 미치는 영향에 관한 통찰과 정신장애인의 회복과 사회적응을 향상을 위한 초점화되고, 개별화된 개입방안을 위한 시사점을 제시하였다.
Previous research reported that stigma of mental illness has had various negative effects on recovery and social adjustment among people with mental illness, so this study investigated the influence of the internalized stigma on recovery attitudes and social adjustment, and examined the moderating effect of social support on the path of internalized stigma, recovery attitude and social adjustment among people with mental illness. For this purpose, the data were collected from 227 people with mental illness and were analyzed by using the SPSS and PROCESS Macro 3.5. The results showed that internalized stigma was negatively related to recovery attitudes, social adjustment, and social support, while recovery attitudes was positively related to social adjustment and social support. Next, internalized stigma had a significantly negative effect on recovery attitudes and social adjustment, and recovery attitudes had a significant mediating effect on the relationship between internalized stigma and social adjustment, which indicated that internalzied stigma had the direct effect on social adjustment and also had the indirect effect on social adjustment through recovery attitudes. In addition, findings of the study showed that social support had the moderating effect on the path of internalized stigma, recovery attitude and social adjustment among people with mental illness. These findings provided insights into the influences of internalized stigma and social support and possible implications for improving recovery and social adjustment of people with mental illness were recommended.
