본 고는 시조 종장 초구에 수용된 ‘동식물’의 어휘에 대한 양상과 역할을 살펴보았다. 이를 요약·정리하면 다음과 같다. 먼저 시조 종장 초구에 수용된 ‘동식물’은 7항목에 어휘는 총 43개이며 작품 총수는 152수이다. 구체적으로 가장 많은 항목은 ‘날짐승’으로 13개 항목에 64수이며 ‘길짐승’과 ‘물짐승’ 순이다. ‘식물’은 17개의 항목에 56수가 확인된다. 종장 초구의 동식물과 결합한 조사는 10개 항목에 60수가 있다. 한편 종장 초구에 수용된 동식물과 관련된 지시어는‘저, 그, 이’로 어휘 수는22개이며 작품 수는 30수이다. 다음으로 종장 초구에 수용된 ‘동식물’의 역할을 살펴보면 ‘시상의 대상으로서 역할은 ‘시상의 주체로서 역할’과 ‘시상의 매개로서 역할’, 그리고 ‘시상의 비유로서 역할’을 살펴보았고 ‘시적 전개상의 역할’은 ‘시적 공간의 구현’과 ‘시적 시간의 설정’으로 살펴보았다. 끝으로 종장 초구에 수용된 ‘동식물’의 의미는 먼저 한국문학에 수용된 ‘동식물’의 소재 외연을 확장시켰다는 점과 ‘동식물’이 갖는 특성을 적극적으로 활용하고 있다는 점, 그리고 종장 초구에 수용된 ‘동식물’ 이 주제에 지대한 영향을 미쳤다는 점 등을 들 수 있다. 이처럼 시조 종장 초구는 다양한 ‘동식물’을 수용하여 작자의 주제를 효과적으로 표출하는데 주요한 역할을 하였음을 알 수 있다.

This paper examined the aspects and roles of the vocabulary of 'fairy plants' accommodated in the beginning of the Sijojang. The summary and summary is as follows. First, there are 7 items of 'fairy plants' accommodated in the beginning of the Sijojang, and a total of 43 vocabulary words and the total number of works is 152. Finally, the meaning of “frozen plants” accommodated in Jongjang Cho-gu is that it first expanded the scope of the material of “frozen plants” accommodated in Korean literature, that it actively utilizes the characteristics of “frozen plants,” and that “frozen plants” accommodated in Jongjang Cho-gu had a profound influence on the subject.
