허홍(許銾, 1907-1991)은 한국의 기독교대한하나님의성회(‘기하성’)라는 교단을 창설한 공로자, 그리고 보다 넓게는 한국 기독교 안에서 성령의 역사에 부응했던 목회자로 평가받는다. 2003년 “기하성 희년 50인”에 선정되었고, 2004년 “성령의 사람 100인”에 포함되기도 했다. 허홍은 럼지 선교사를 통해 방언과 능력을 동반하는 성령침례를 받고 오순절 주의자가 된 후 서빙고포교소를 설립하며 최초의 한국인 오순절교회 설립자가 되었다. 그리고 그는 최초의 한국인 기독교오순절교회 포교관리자, 최초의 한국인 기하성 총리였다. 또한 그가 설립한 남부교회는 기하성 최초의 본부였고, 회의장이었으며, 순복음신학교 개교 장소였다. 더하여, 허홍은 “하나님의 성회”라는 현 기하성 교단 명칭을 제안하고 채택시켰으며, 미국 하나님의 성회(AG)와 한국 기하성의 가교 역할을 했다. 이렇게 허홍은 한국 교회사와 기하성 교단사에 큰 발자취를 남겼지만, 현재까지 허홍을 주제로 발표된 연구성과물, 즉 소논문이나 학위논문은 전무하다. 각종 논문과 책에서 단편적으로만 다뤄져 왔었다. 본 논문은 이렇게 그동안 단편적으로만 다뤄져 왔던 허홍에 대해, 출생부터 소천 때까지의 그의 목회 사역전반을 생생히 복원해 내고 있다.

Heo Hong (1907-1991) is credited with founding a denomination known as the Assemblies of God of Korea and is widely acknowledged as a minister who embodied the ministry of the Holy Spirit within the Korean Church. He was listed among the “50 people on the 7 0th anniversary of The Assembly of God of Korea” in 2003 and among the “100 people of the Holy Spirit” in 2004. After receiving Spirit baptism involving speaking in tongues and powers from the Pentecostal missionary Mary C. Rumsey, Heo Hong became a Pentecostal. He then established a mission workstation in Seobinggo, becoming the first Korean to found a Pentecostal church. In addition, he was the first Korean to serve as superintendent of both the Christian Pentecostal Church and the Assemblies of God of Korea (KAG). The Nambu Church, founded by him, served as the initial headquarters of the KAG, hosting its founding conference, and as the location where the Full Gospel Theology Seminary opened. Furthermore, he proposed the current Korean title for the KAG, “Hananimui Seonghoe,” played a crucial role in its selection, and served as a bridge between the Assemblies of God in America and the KAG. However, despite his significant impact on the history of the Korean Church and the KAG, there is a lack of research about him, including research essays and dissertations. He has only been briefly mentioned in various papers and books. This study thoroughly reconstructs his entire pastoral ministry, spanning from birth to death.
