키리시탄판 『일포사전』은 본편과 부록편이 각각 1603년과 1604년 나가사키에서 출판되었다. 사전 편술의 목적은 일본에서 선교하는 가톨릭 선교사들의 일본어 학습을 위한 것으로, 구어를 중심으로 실용적인 어휘를 엄선하여 수록한 것으로 평가받는다. 특히 실용적인 일상어뿐만 아니라 딱딱한 문장어, 불교 및 신도와 같은 일본 토착 종교의 용어 등 이른바 이해 어휘까지 수록한 것은 특기할 만하다. 이 문헌에 대해서는 『邦訳日葡辞書』가 출판된 이후 일본어 연구 자료로서 다방면에서 이용 및 연구되어 왔으며, 해당 사전에 수록된 불교 어휘에 대해서도 규모에 대한 규명이 이루어져 왔다. 다른 한편으로는 일포사전뿐만 아니라 다른 키리시탄 문헌 전반에서 이루어진 불교 어휘의 사용 양상에 대해서도 조망되었다. 본 연구에서는 이 사전에 수록된 불교용어 중에서도 일정한 형태적 특징을 갖는 ‘仏法語’에 주목했다. 불교와 관련한 일본어 어휘들에 대해 어떠한 어휘를 사용하여 설명하고 있는지를 파악하기 위해 텍스트마이닝을 진행하였다. 이것을 통해 16~17세기 일본에서 불교라는 재래 종교를 가톨릭 선교사들이 갖고 있었던 인식을 언어적인 측면에서 가늠해 볼 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

The Christian edition of the Vocabulario da Lingoa de Iapam was published in Nagasaki in 1603 and 1604, the main volume and the supplementary volume respectively. The purpose of compiling the dictionary was to help Catholic missionaries learn the Japanese language. It is particularly noteworthy for its inclusion of not only practical everyday words, but also so-called comprehension vocabulary, such as rigid sentences and terms of indigenous Japanese religions such as Buddhism and Shinto. Since the publication of Hoyaku Nippo Jisho, the dictionary has been used and studied in various ways as a source for Japanese language research. The Buddhist vocabulary in the dictionary has been identified in previous studies through the scale of the words with annotation Buppo 仏法. On the other hand, the use of Buddhist vocabulary in the Vocabulario da Lingoa de Iapamas well as in other Christian materials has also been examined. This study focuses on the Buppo words in this dictionary, which have certain morphological features. Text mining was carried out to identify the lexical descriptions of Buddhist-related Japanese vocabulary. This will provide a linguistic insight into Catholic missionaries’ perceptions of Buddhism in Japan in the 16th and 17th centuries.
