이 글은 광복 이전부터 1950년대까지 발표된 어린이날 노래의 면면을 살펴보기 위해 기획되었다. 광복 이전 <조지아행진곡>의 곡조를 빌려 발표한 <어린이날 노래>를 시작으로 광복 이후부터 1950년대까지 여러 어린이날 노래가 있었다. 보통 어린이날 노래라고 하면 윤석중 작사, 윤극영 작곡의 <어린이날 노래>만을 떠올리나 더 많은 어린이날 노래가 나와 어린이날을 기념하고 어린이에게 꿈과 희망을 심어주었다. 1946년, 광복 이후 첫 번째 어린이날을 맞이하여 두 곡의 <어린이날 노래>가 나왔다. 하나는 김태오가 작사하고 나운영이 작곡한 <어린이날 노래>이고, 다른 하나는 어린이날 전국준비위원회에서 발표한 <어린이날 노래>다. 윤석중이 작사한 <어린이날 노래>는 안기영이 작곡한 것(1947년)과 윤극영이 작곡한 것(1949년)이 모두 존재하는데, 이 글에서는 그 두 곡의 음악적 차이점을 제시하였다. 그 외에도 현재까지 거의 알려지지 않은 여러 어린이날 노래를 소개하였다. 총 8개의 어린이날 노래의 선율과 노랫말을 살펴보았으며, 그를 통해 어려운 상황에서도 어린이날을 기념하여 어린이를 축복하려 했던 당대 어른들의 마음을 엿볼 수 있었다. 광복하고 얼마 안 되어 발표한 어린이날 노래는 주로 광복의 기쁨을 표현하면서 어린이날을 기념하였다. 이어서 점차 5월의 푸르름을 어린이의 꿈과 희망과 연결하는 내용의 어린이날 노래가 다수 등장하였다. 윤석중이 작사한 <어린이날 노래>와 <어린이날>, 그리고 강소천이 작사한 <우리들의 날>에서 이를 확인하였다. 음악적으로는 8곡 중 4분의 2박자가 4곡으로 가장 많고 그 외 4분의 4박자 2곡, 4분의 3박자 1곡으로 나타났는데, 대체로 행진곡풍이다. 어린이날을 경쾌하고 명랑하게 기념하려는 의도가 반영된 것으로 보인다. 그리고 5음 음계를 사용한 노래들은 주로 기존 민요의 조흥구 등을 활용하였다. 이는 전통 음악의 요소를 활용하려 한 결과라 할 수 있다. 어린이날 노래를 통해 광복 이후 좌우 이념의 대립 속에서도 그날을 기념하려 했던 정황을 볼 수 있다. 이 글의 성과는 이제까지 알려지지 않았던 어린이날 노래를 발굴해서 소개하고, 1950년대까지 발표된 어린이날 노래 전반을 고찰한 것에 있다.

This paper is designed to examine facets of Children’s Day songs released from the pre-liberation period to the 1950s. Starting with the pre-liberation < March of Georgia >, a Children’s Day song using the melody of this march, various Children’s Day songs were released from the post-liberation period to the 1950s. When people think of Children’s Day songs, they often recall < Children’s Day Song >(어린이날 노래), with lyrics by Yoon Seok-jung and composition by Yoon Geuk-young. However, numerous other Children’s Day songs were produced, commemorating Children’s Day and instilling dreams and hopes in children. To celebrate the first Children’s Day after liberation, two songs were released. One was < Children’s Day Song >, with lyrics by Kim Tae-o and composition by Na Un-young, and the other was < Children’s Day Song >, announced by the Nationwide Preparation Committee for Children’s Day. Yoon Seok-jung wrote the lyrics for < Children’s Day Song >, and both An Gi-young and Yoon Geuk-young composed versions of the song. This paper presents the musical characteristics of both versions. Additionally, it introduces Children’s Day songs released until the 1950s. I have examined the melodies and lyrics of a total of eight Children’s Day songs, providing insight into the sentiments of the adults of that era who sought to commemorate Children’s Day and bless children even in challenging circumstances. Shortly after liberation, Children’s Day songs were primarily focused on expressing the joy of liberation while commemorating Children’s Day. Subsequently, a significant number of Children’s Day songs emerged, connecting the blue of May with the dreams and hopes of children. This was evident in Yoon Seok-jung’s lyrics for < Children’s Day Song > and < Children’s Day >(어린이날), as well as Kang So-cheon’s lyrics for < Our Day >(우리들의 날). Musically, the predominant time signature was 4/2, found in four songs, with two songs in 4/4 and one in 4/3. Generally, the songs were composed in a march-like style. Many songs used the pentatonic scale, incorporating elements from traditional folk songs. Amidst the ideological divide after liberation, I examined the efforts to commemorate Children’s Day through Children’s Day songs. The contribution of this paper lies in the discovery and presentation of Children’s Day songs that were not previously known, as well as a comprehensive analysis of Children’s Day songs released until the 1950s.
