본 연구는 5개국의 해외 온라인 대학 유아교사자격증 발급 및 관리체계와 현황을 다각적인 측면에서 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과를 살펴보면 첫째, 유아교사자격증 취득과정은 최소 준학사 이상부터 석사과정을 통해 자격증을 취득할 수 있다. 둘째, 지원 자격을 살펴보면, 일반적으로 최소요구 학력의 경우, 준학사는 고등학교 졸업이상, 학사는 준학사 이상, 석사과정은 학사 학위 이상을 요구하며, 학력 이외에도 각 나라별로 요구하는 자격증을 소지한 경우 지원이 가능함을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 교과과정의 경우, 유아교사자격증 취득을 위해 선택과목, 필수과목, 실습이 요구되며, 준학사보다 학사에서 요구하는 졸업학점이 더 많은 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 실습과정을 살펴보면, 해외 대학들은 교과목에 실습교과를 필수로 포함하며, 대학별로 다소 차이가 있으나 우리나라에 비해 비교적 높은 실습시간을 요구하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 취득 자격증 및 진로를 살펴보면, 졸업요건 충족 시, 국가 혹은 주에서 인정하는 자격증 취득이 가능함을 알 수 있다. 본 연구 결과는 원격교육과정에서 유아교원양성과정을 비교 분석함으로써, 국내 유아교사 자격 관련 정책 결정에 있어 기초 및 근거자료를 제공하였다는 점에서 의의를 가진다.
This study examined early childhood teacher education certificate programs in online higher education of 5 countries. The results are as follows. First, the early childhood teacher qualification can be acquired from pre-bachelor’s to master’s courses, mainly consisting of video content classes and an online tutor system. Second, the entry requirement of early childhood teacher certificate programs is one above a high school degree for the pre-bachelor’s program, and a bachelor’s degree for the master’s program. Candidates who possess required certificates can apply for those programs in some countries. Third, the curriculum for early childhood teacher education certificate programs consists of core education subjects, elective subjects, and professional experience placements in diverse settings. Bachelor’s programs require more credits than pre-bachelor’s programs. Fourth, the universities in those 5 countries require mandatory education field experiences, requiring a longer professional experience period than universities in Korea. Lastly, students can acquire an early childhood teacher education certificate when they complete all the required programs and they can work as teachers in preschools, kindergartens, elementary schools, or as managers in early childhood institutions according to the certificate types. These results provide the basic resources for policymaking in South Korea, through the analysis of early childhood teacher education certificate programs in online higher education.
