An effective vision-based system to detect cable damage is presented in this paper. Basically, the damage algorithm combines the image enhancement technique with principal component analysis (PCA) to detect damage in cable surfaces. In more detail, histogram equalization is applied to enhance the image quality, and then PCA is implemented for feature extraction and classification.
