한국교회사 속에서 교회성장과 발전의 전성기는 1970-80년대라 할 수 있다. 이 기간에 국내외적으로 널리 영향력을 발휘하고 있었던 영락교회의 담임목사로서, 박조준은 설교와 목회, 그리고 다양한 사역을 통하여 가장 중추적인 역할을 감당하였다. 그러나 그 시대 속에서 목회자로서 걸어가야 할 길을 외면하지 않았고, 외쳐야 할 소리를 가감 없이 외쳤다. 이러한 자세로 개인적인 시련과 고난의 길을 통과해야 했지만, 한국 교회와 목회자가 지향해야 할 목표가 무엇인지 분명하게 보여주었고 함께 그 길을 걷고자 노력했던 목회자들의 지도자였다. 그의 목회 사역 기간 동안 경험했던 사건과 사역들은 고스란히 그 시대의 한국교회사 내용으로 채워졌으며, 아직도 진행 중이라고 할 수 있다. 박조준 목사의 목회 사역이 한국교회사에서 차지하는 의미는 복음전도의 우선성과 사회적 봉사를 통한 빛과 소금의 역할 감당, 복음적이고 예언자적 설교를 통한 영향력 확산의 모델 제시, 교회개혁과 교권적 장로교 제도 혁신을 통한 새로운 교회연합운동 전개, 그리고 목회자 및 설교자 교육과 갱신을 위한 헌신이라고 요약할 수 있다.
The 1970s and the 1980s are often heralded as the heyday of church growth and development in the history of the Korean Church. Among numerous Korean pastors, Rev. Cho Choon Park played the most pivotal role through sermons, pastoral care, and various ministries, as the senior pastor of Young Nak Presbyterian Church during this period: demonstrating both local and pervasive influences. However, he did not disregard the path he had to go as a pastor in that era, and expressed unequivocally or powerfully without any hesitation or compromise what he had to say. He clearly showed what kind of goals that both the Korean church and pastors should aim for, and was even a leader of pastors who tried to walk that path together even though he had to go through personal sufferings and trials with such forward-thinking or feeling. The occurrences as well as ministries he experienced in his pastoral ministry were completely loaded with the historical events of Korean churches in those days, which can be considered that they still are ongoing. The significance points of Rev. Park’s pastoral ministry in the continuous, systematic narrative of past events of Korean churches can be summarized as follows: the role of light and salt through the priority of evangelism and social service, the represented idea or plan of spreading influences through evangelical and prophetic sermons, the development of a new church unity movement through the Christian Reformed churches and ecclesiastical authority, and a commitment to education as well as renewal of pastors and preachers.
