이 연구는 한국어 선어말어미 ‘-시-’의 확장적 사용 양상을 살펴보기 위하여 한국어 교재 대화 말뭉치와 드라마 대사로 구성된 구어 말뭉치를 검토하였으며, 학습자들은 선어말어미 ‘-시-’의 기본적인 용법을 초급 단계에서 학습한 후 중·고급 단계에서 ‘-시-’의 확장된 용법을 지속적으로 학습할 필요가 있음을 확인하였다. 본고에서는 우선 한국어 초급 교재에서 선어말어미 ‘-시-’의 교육 내용에 대해 간단히 살펴보았고, 한국어 교재 대화 말뭉치를 검토함으로써 한국어 교재 대화에서 ‘-시-’의 사용 양상을 살펴보았다. 또한 이 외에 어떠한 사용 양상이 있는지, 해당 양상들 사이에 어떠한 규칙이 있는지를 알아보기 위해서 드라마 대사로 말뭉치를 구축하였고 구어 대화에서 나타난 ‘-시-’의 용법을 제시하였다. 한국어 학습자들은 초급 단계에서 ‘-시-’의 전형적 용법을 배우며 ‘-시-’가 항상 주체를 높이기 위해서 사용되며 [+높임]의 종결어미 해요체와 합쇼체와만 결합할 수 있다고 배우게 된다. 그러나 고급 한국어 학습자는 일상 대화를 접할 가능성이 높으므로 실제적인 자료를 활용하여 교육할 필요가 있다. 본고에서는 실제성이 있는 자료를 통해 ‘-시-’의 다양한 용법을 제시함으로써 학습자들이 ‘-시-’에 대한 다차원적인 이해를 도울 수 있는 교육 자료를 마련하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the expanded use of the Korean pre-final ending '-si-' and propose a corresponding teaching plan. To achieve this, a Korean textbook dialogue and drama dialogue corpus were analyzed. that learners need to learn ‘-si-’ at the beginner level, progressing to learning the extended usage of ‘-si-’ at the intermediate and advanced levels. In this paper, we briefly reviewed the grammar instruction of ‘-si-’ in Korean elementary textbooks and examine the usage of ‘-si-’ through a corpus of Korean textbook conversations. Additionally, we analyzed a corpus of drama dialogues to identify new usage patterns. At the beginner level, Korean learners are educated on the typical usage of ‘-si-’, and that it is always used to the subject and can only be combined with the [+Honorific] endings of Haeyo- and Hapsyo-styles. However, advanced Korean learners are more likely to conversations and must be educated using realistic materials. In this article, we teaching materials designed to help learners develop a multidimensional understanding of ‘-si-’ by presenting various uses of it through real-life examples.
