말소리 인식이 원활치 않은 청각장애인은 대화를 통한 정서적인 교류를 경험하기 어려우며 이로 인해 언어 발달이 지체되어 나타난다. 특히 글자는 청각장애인이 소통 과정에서 가장 많이 사용하는 수단인 데 반해 말소리와 글자와의 연관성을 습득하지 못하는 데서 심각한 지연이 일어난다. 키네틱타이포그래피는 글자 움직임을 통해 말소리를 구현하는 데 적합한 요건을 갖추었으므로 청각장애인에게 말소리의 음성 정보를 전달하는 데 유용한 도구로 활용될 수 있다. 키네틱 타이포그래피를 기반으로 다양한 글자 움직임에 대한 청각장애인의 말소리 인식 반응을 조사하였으며, 이때 말소리를 ‘강약’, ‘고저’, ‘장단’으로 세분화하여 각 음성 정보를 전달하는 데 효과적으로 나타난 글자 움직임 속성을 도출하였다. 먼저 ‘강약’을 전달하는 데 효과적인 글자 움직임 속성으로 ‘공간’을 도출하였으며 세부적으로는 글자크기나 수가 증가하며 공간 확장이 일어날 때 해당 음성 정보를 인식할 수 있었다. 또한 ‘고저’에 대한 움직임 속성은 ‘운동’으로 글자 형태가 부서지며 날카로운 고음을 선사하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 ‘장단’을 전달하는 데 효과적인 움직임 속성으로 ‘리듬’을 도출하였으며 세부적으로는 특정 움직임이 짧고 반복적으로 지속될 때 인식할 수 있었다.

Hearing-impaired individuals, who struggle with perceiving voice tones, often face difficulties experiencing emotional exchanges during conversations. There is a significant delay in acquiring the correlation between speech sounds and letters, whereas written language has been one of the most frequently used tools for communication among the hearing impaired. Kinetic typography, which implements speech sounds through type movements, is suitable for conveying vocal information to the hearing impaired. As a result, properties of type movements that effectively convey voice tones, such as 'intensity,' 'pitch,' and 'duration,' were discovered accordingly. Firstly, 'intensity' was associated with 'space,' where there is an expansion of space, such as an increase in letter size or quantity. Additionally, 'pitch' was linked to 'motion,' as letter forms breaking apart produced sharp, high-pitched sounds. Lastly, 'duration' was connected with 'rhythm,' while certain movements were consistently repeated.
