이 연구의 목적은 경험적 기술철학자인 돈 아이디의 기술철학에 기반하여 인공지능에 대해 고찰하고, 인공지능 기술의 이해 및 발전을 위한 유의미한 시사점을 얻는 것에 있다. 이를 위하여 기술과 기술철학의 의미, 돈 아이디의 기술철학적 견해, 인공지능 기술 및 윤리를 살핀 후, 돈 아이디의 기술철학에 기반하여 인공지능 기술을 고찰하였다. 첫째, 우리가 인공지능 기술을 이해하고 발전시킬 때의 중요한 요소는 ‘인간의 적극적인 개입’이다. 인공지능 기술의 발달에 인간은 주체성을 가져야 하고, 관련 문제를 사전에 면밀히 검토하고 논의하여야 한다. 인간이 기술에 대한 통제권을 잃게 되는 기술적 표류(Technological Drift)의 원인은 기술을 만들어놓고 적극적으로 고민하지 않는 인간에게 있다. 둘째, 돈 아이디의 기술철학은 ‘강력한 인공지능 개발 중단’ 요청에 대하여, 개발을 중단하면 안된다는 주장과 결을 함께 한다. 인공지능 기술에는 큰 유익성이 존재하며, 혹여 인공지능으로 인한 위험이 존재한다면 더 발전된 기술에 의한 ‘역전가능성’으로 그러한 문제는 해결 가능하다. 추후 다양한 입장의 기술철학에 기반한 인공지능 고찰이 이루어지고, 인간과 인공지능의 행복한 공생의 기반을 공고히 할 것을 제언한다.

The purpose of this study was to examine artificial intelligence based on the technology philosophy of Don Ihde, an empirical technology philosopher. As a result, meaningful implications were obtained for the understanding and development of artificial intelligence technology. The meaning of philosophy of technology, Don Ihde's views on philosophy of technology, and artificial intelligence technology and ethics were examined. Afterwards, implications for artificial intelligence technology were derived based on Don Ihde's technology philosophy. First, an important factor when we understand and develop artificial intelligence technology is ‘active human intervention.’ Humans must have agency in the development of artificial intelligence technology, and related issues must be carefully reviewed and discussed in advance. The cause of technological drift, in which humans lose control over technology, lies in humans not actively thinking about it after creating the technology. Second, Don Ihde's technology philosophy is consistent with the request to 'stop the development of powerful artificial intelligence' with the argument that development should not be stopped. There are great benefits to artificial intelligence technology, and if there are any risks due to artificial intelligence, such problems can be resolved through ‘reversal potential’ through more advanced technology. In the future, artificial intelligence should be examined based on various technological philosophies to lay the foundation for a happy coexistence between humans and artificial intelligence.
