This paper aims to examine the development principles of the Korean language proficiency test developed by the Korean Language Institute of Y University as a private qualification test, by focusing on combining it with self-directed learning archives. Chapter 2 introduced the IBT proficiency test and looked into the concept of archives and the need for archives for Korean learners' self-directed learning. In Chapter 3, the learner-centered assessment principles of this test tool were examined, and the development principles related to the Korean language proficiency level index were examined in terms of the hierarchy of grammatical knowledge, systematicity of vocabulary arrangement, and complementarity of discourse function constructs. In addition, it was discussed how this test tool could be linked with the self-directed learning archive in order to properly perform the diagnosis and feedback, the original roles of assessment.
