모더니즘은 1960년대 이후 전통과 신 중심의 사고에서 벗어나 인간 중심의 합리적인 발전을 지향하는 운동이다. 모더니즘은 건물의 형태가 기능의 최소한의 표현에 다다를 때까지 줄이고자 했으며, 현재의 많은 건축물에도 영향을 주었다. 이러한 모더니즘의 등장 배경과 대표적인 특징을 대표적인 건축가인 월터 그로피우스, 르 코르뷔지에, 미스 반 데어 로에의 철학과 건축물을 살펴보며 알아보고자 한다.

Modernism is a movement that aims for rational human-centered development, away from traditional and God-centered thinking since the 1960s. Modernism sought to reduce the shape of the building until it reached the minimum expression of its function, and influenced many of the current buildings. I would like to examine the philosophy and architecture of representative architects Walter Gropius, Le Corbusier, and Miss van der Roet to find out the background and representative characteristics of modernism.
