연구목적 이 연구는 김성근감독을 바라보는 한국 사회의 시선과 담론을 통해 한국스포츠지도자의 모습을 살펴보고 이를 통해 시대적 리더십이 무엇인지 살펴보는 것이 목적이 있다. 연구방법 이 연구는 미디어를 중심으로 김성근감독이 SK와이번스 감독으로 활약하기 시작한 2007년부터 2023년 8월까지 생산된 김성근감독 담론을 중심으로 긍정적 담론과 부정적 담론을 나눠 분석하였다. 결과 연구결과에 따르면 김성근감독에 대한 긍정적인 담론은 그를 야신이라 칭하며 그가 어떻게 위대한 업적을 쌓을 수 있었는지 분석하는 것이다. 둘째, 반대로 부정적인 담론은 그를 구시대적인 리더로 평가하는 것이다. 조직의 성과를 위해 개인을 희생하며 선수를 혹사시키는 것도 마다하지 않는 개발독재시대의 지도자로 묘사한다. 결론 김성근감독의 리더십은 한국 사회의 역사적 맥락과 맞닿아 있는 것으로 시대의 요구에 따라 긍정적 혹은 부정적으로 평가받고 있다.

PURPOSE The purpose of this research is to examine the perception and discourse of Korean society regarding Kim Seung-geunl leadership. METHOD This study analyzed the discourse surrounding Kim Seung-geun, who began his role as the coach of SK Wyverns in 2007 and continued until August 2023, with a focus on media. RESULT Positive discourse about Kim Seung-geun portrays him as an ambitious figure, analyzing how he was able to achieve remarkable accomplishments. Negative discourse evaluates him as a leader stuck in the past era, describing him as an autocratic coach of the developmental era who doesn't hesitate to sacrifice individuals and push players to their limits for the sake of the organization's performance. CONCLUSION. Kim Seung-geun's leadership is closely intertwined with the historical context of Korean society, and it has been positively evaluated in line with the demands of the times.
