이 논문은 경제적인 어-형성 수단인 [동사→명사] 전환의 다의 관계를 고찰해 보고 있다. 동사에서 파생된 명사는 동사가 나타내는 행위의 실례나 또는 행위로 인한 결과를 나타낸다. 하지만 이는 전형적인 [동사→명사] 전환 사례의 의미 관계에 국한되어 있다. [동사→명사] 전환의 다의성은 전형적인 [동사→명사] 전환 유형에서 벗어난 동사-명사 쌍의 의미 분석에 대한 필요성을 불러일으켰다. 이에 본 논문은 [동사→명사] 전환의 의미 확장 양상 및 동기화되는 방식을 분석해봄으로써, [동사→명사] 전환의 다의 관계를 규명해보는 데에 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 통해 품사를 횡단하는 다의 관계 분석을 정당화시키는 다음과 같은 시사점을 발견할 수 있었다. 첫 번째, [동사→명사] 전환은 동사의 기본의미뿐만 아니라 확장된 의미를 모태로 삼아 전환이 일어날 수 있다. 두 번째, [동사→명사] 전환의 의미 확장 양상을 전문화와 환유라는 인지 기제를 통해 설명할 수 있었다. 어휘의 기존 의미를 축소하여, 의미를 구체화시키는 전문화는 기저형인 동사 내에서 뿐만 아니라 전환된 명사 내에서도 일어난다. 또한 다양한 개념적 환유를 통해 파생형의 의미가 기저형의 의미를 명시적으로 포함하고 있지 않는 비전형적 [동사→명사] 전환 사례들의 의미 관련성을 규명할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the polysemy of verb-to-noun conversion by analyzing the aspects of the semantic extension and possible motivations in the verb-to-noun conversion process. This paper found the following implications that justify the analysis of polysemy across parts of speeches. First, verb-to-noun conversion can take place not only through the basic meaning of the verb but also through the extended meaning. Second, the aspects of meaning extension in verb-to-noun conversion could be explained through the cognitive mechanism of specialization and metonymy. Specialization, the cognitive process of narrowing the meaning of a given word, occurs not only within the base verb but also within the converted noun. In addition, through various conceptual metonymies, it was possible to identify the semantic link between the motivating and motivated unit in verb-noun pairs, which deviate from the typical verb-to-noun conversion type.
