이 논문은 통일교육을 위한 기초로서 북한에 대한 이해와 그 제한점에 관한 것이다. 통일부 및 도덕과 교육과정에 따라 통일교육을 실시하기 위해서는 북한에 대한 객관적인 이해가 선행될 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 본문에서는 북한 이해의 관점과 북한 연구 방법론에 대해 고찰하고, 북한의 정치체제 및 통치이념을 살펴보았다. 또한 북한 경제체제의 특징과 변화 전망에 대해 고찰 하였다. 특히 북한 주민의 생활과 인권, 그리고 북한의 교육과 문화에 대한 연구를 통해 북한 주민들의 실제 삶의 모습과 변화 전망 등에 대한 견해를 밝혔으며, 결론에서 북한이해에 있어서의 제한점 등을 제시하였다.

This paper is for understanding North Korea as the basis for unification education. To this end, the perspective of understanding North Korea and the research methodology of North Korea were reviewed, and the political system and governing ideology of North Korea were examined. In addition, an in-depth review was conducted on the characteristics of the North Korean economic system and the prospects for change. In particular, through research on the lives and human rights of North Koreans, and the education and culture of North Korea, opinions on the actual life and prospects of change of North Koreans were expressed. The purpose of this study is to reveal that for unification education, a thorough study of North Korea and a consideration of the prospect of change must precede.
