본 연구는 대학에 재학 중인 후기청소년의 민주시민 역량 향상을 위한 뉴스리터러시 교육프로그램을 개발하고, 개발된 프로그램의 교육적 효과성을 검증하였다. 교육프로그램은 ADDIE 모형에 따라 개발하되, 교육 목표를 성공적으로 달성하기 위해서는 교육 내용 및 목표 등에 대한 학습자의 기대를 파악하고 이를 반영해야 한다는 선행연구들에 근거하여, 학습자의 요구를 파악하는 데에 주안점을 두고 진행하였다. 대학 교양 강의에서 활용 가능한 4차시 분량의 학습지도안은 1차시 뉴스 이해 교육, 2차시 뉴스 분석 교육, 3차시 뉴스 평가 교육, 4차시 뉴스 생산 및 책임 교육 내용으로 개발되었다. 이때에는 학습자가 주도적으로 참여하는 학습 과제들을 포함시켜 보다 능동적인 학습을 통한 긍정적인 교육 경험이 축적될 수 있도록 하였다. 대학생 90명을 대상으로 개발된 뉴스리터러시 교육프로그램을 운영하고, 이들의 뉴스리터러시 수준, 디지털시민성, 의사소통 역량을 교육 전/후 반복측정한 결과, 모든 변인에서 긍정적인 효과가 나타났다. 교육 이전보다 이후 대학생의 뉴스리터러시 수준, 디지털시민성, 의사소통 역량이 더 높게 확인된 것이다. 또한 본 프로그램에 대한 학습자의 종합평가에서는 개발된 프로그램을 통한 긍정적인 뉴스 태도 형성, 프로그램의 뉴스 학습 효과, 프로그램에 대한 만족도 및 적합도가 높게 평가되었다. 뿐만 아니라 학습자의 자기평가 및 학습자의 학습 과제 등에 대한 교수자 평가 모두 높은 평균 점수를 보여, 개발된 뉴스리터러시 교육프로그램의 긍정적인 교육 효과를 확인하였다. 이상의 연구를 통해 대학생에 대한 정책적 교육 지원이 확대되고, 뉴스리터러시 교육에 대한 사회적 관심과 제도적 지원이 확충되기를 기대한다.
This study focuses on developing a news-literacy education program to improve the competence of democratic citizenship of post-adolescence attending college and verifying the educational effects of the developed program. Although the educational program is developed according to the ADDIE model, the study focuses on learners’ needs by reflecting the previous studies that learners’ expectations and goals should be reflected in order to successfully achieve educational goals. The 4-hour study plan that can be used in college lectures consists of news understanding education in the lst session, news analysis education in the 2nd session, news evaluation education in the 3rd session, and news production and responsibility education in the 4th session. After the news-literacy education program developed for 90 students was operated, the positive effects were found as a result of repeated measurements to examine changes in the students’ news-literacy level, digital citizenship, and communication competency before and after education. After the education, It was confirmed that the level of news-literacy, digital citizenship, and communication competency of college students were higher than before. In addition, as a result of learners’ comprehensive evaluation of this program, positive news attitude formation through the program, news learning effect of the program, satisfaction/suitability to the program were highly evaluated. Also both the learner’s self-evaluation and the instructor’s evaluation of the learner’s learning tasks showed high average scores, confirming the positive educational effect of the program.
