본 논문은 매체에 따른 문학의 변화 양상과 디지털인문학의 개념과 적용 분야를 살펴보고 독일의 디지털 문학의 사례를 통해 문학 작품과 디지털 기술과의 융합의 방향성을 논의하였다. 디지털 환경에서 문학 양상은 작가와 독자, 비평가와 독자의 경계를 허물어 그들의 관계를 수직에서 수평으로 이동시키고, 집필 방식과 유통구조 또한 편리해졌다. 텍스트의 집필 환경, 유통, 소비에 이르기까지 문학의 영역이 확장될 수 있는 문이 열린 것이다. (인)문학과 디지털 기술의 결합은 이러한 변화를 적극적으로 수용하는 분야 중 하나이다. 디지털인문학은 디지털 기술과 인문학의 융합으로 형성된 비교적 최근의 학문 분야로, 전통적인 인문학 분야에서 디지털 기술과 컴퓨팅 환경을 융합하여 새로운 방식으로 인문학을 탐구하고 이해하는 분야이다. 인문학의 주제, 연구 방법, 교육 방법 등을 디지털 기술과 연결해 다양한 차원에서 새로운 통찰력을 제공하고 새로운 지식과 이해를 확장하고 있다. 독일의 괴팅엔대학, 뮌스터대학, 포츠담대학 등 여러 대학에서는 ‘디지털 문학학(Digitale Literaturwissenschaft)’을 도입하고 있다. 급변하는 기술 시대에도 문학이 지향하는 본질적인 내용은 크게 바뀌지 않을 것이다. 문학이 다시 활성화되고 제 기능을 할 수 있으려면 ‘디지털 문학’과 같은 타 학문과의 융합, 디지털 매체를 활용한 수업과 작업, 그리고 디지털 세대 학생들을 위한 텍스트 선정과 교수법 개선 등의 대안이 필요하다. 이러한 방법의 하나로, ‘문학’과 ‘컴퓨터학(Informatik)’을 융합한 학문으로 컴퓨터를 기반으로 즉, 전통적인 문학 작품을 설계, 구축, 분석, 해석 과정을 거쳐 다양한 방식으로 재가공하여 소통을 가능하게 하는 것을 목적으로 하는 ‘디지털문학학’에 대한 논의가 이루어지길 기대한다.

This study aims (ⅰ) to explore changes in literature caused by media, the concept of Digital Humanities and the sectors it covers, and then (ⅱ) to suggest ‘the science of Digital Literature」 through cases of the digital literature in Germany. Literature in digital environment helps authors, readers, and critics push the boundary between them, which changes their vertical relationships into horizontal ones and makes the writing method and distribution easy. It opened the door to expand the area of literature to the writing environment of texts, distribution, and consumption. Digital Humanities is one of the fields that accept positively these changes. Digital Humanities is an emerging field of study bringing computing and digital technology to the study of the humanities in the pursuit of researching and understanding the humanities in new ways. It provides new insight on different levels and expands knowledge and understanding combining humanities subjects, research methods, and teaching methods with digital technologies. German universities such as the University of Göttingen, the University of Münster, and the University of Potsdam are introducing Digital Literature(Digitale Literaturwissenschaft). The essential content that literature pursues will remain unshaken in this rapidly-changing technology era. To rejuvenate literature and make it function, and to make the individual who majors in Literature a productive member of society, we need plans for activity associated with other disciplines like Digital Literature, teaching and working utilizing digital tools, and selecting texts and improving teaching method for students of digital generation. In this paper, we suggest ‘the Science of Digital Literature’ as one of these plans. It is the science converging ‘Literature’ and ‘Informatics’ which makes it possible to reprocess traditional literary texts in various ways by designing, building, analyzing, and interpreting them with tools provided by computing and then allows communication.
