본고는 소설가 김정빈의 『단(丹)에서 우학도인으로 알려진 대종교의 지도자 봉우(鳳宇) 권태훈(權泰勳, 1900~1994)의 활동과 사상에 대하여 고찰한 것이다. 그는 한국단학회 연정원을 설립하여 1980-90년대 한국의 선도(仙道)의 연원을 밝히고, 단학(丹學) 수련의 유행을 선도하였다. 봉우는 독립운동가이자 선도 수행자이며, 대종교의 지도자였다. 그의 사상적 특징은 민족주의와 유학을 바탕으로 한 대종교 사상이라 할 수 있다. 그는 ‘황백전환론(黃白轉換論’), ‘백산대운론(白山大運論)’, ‘백두산족론(白頭山族論)’, ‘한배검 사상’ 등을 주창하여 세상 사람들로부터 큰 관심을 받았지만, 그동안 철학계 및 종교학계에 있어서 크게 주목받지는 못하였다. 본고에서는 봉우 권태훈의 사상을 규명하기 위하여 크게 다음의 세 가지 문제를 다루었다. 우선 그가 몸담았던 대종교의 연원으로서, 대종교가 창교되기 이전에 민족 고유의 신도(神道)를 이어 온 백봉교단의 실체와 백봉사상의 핵심과 특징에 대하여 살펴 보았다. 다음으로 홍암의 대종교 창교 과정 및 대종교의 역사와 대종교 사상의 핵심과 특징에 대하여 살펴보았다. 끝으로 봉우의 사상 형성에 있어서 대종교 사상의 영향은 어떠하며, 봉우 사상 속에 나타난 대종교 사상과 독창성은 무엇인가 하는 점을 규명하였다.

This paper examines the activities and ideas of Bongwoo Kwon Taehoon (1900-1994), the leader of Daejonggyo, known as ‘Woohakdoin’ in 『dan』 written by Kim Jung-bin. He established the Yeonjeongwon of the Korean Danhak Association in order to reveal the origins of Korea’s Taoism in the 1980s and 1990s, and led the trend of Danhak training. Bongwoo was an independence activist, a trainee of Taoism, and a leader of Daejonggyo. His ideological characteristics can be said to be Daejonggyo ideas based on nationalism and Confucianism. He received great attention from the world by advocating “Hwangbaek Transformation Theory”, “Baeksan Great Fortune Theory”, “Baekdusan People Theory”, and “Hanbaegeom Thought” etc., but has not received much attention in philosophical and religious academia. In this paper, the following three issues were mainly dealt with to clarify Bongwoo's thought. First of all, as for the origin of Daejonggyo in which he was involved, we looked at the reality of the Baekbonggyo order, which continued the nation’s own Shinto beliefs before the founding of Daejonggyo, and the core and characteristics of the Baekbong ideology. Next, we looked at the process of establishing Hongam’s Daejonggyo, the history of Daejonggyo, and the core and characteristics of Daejonggyo Thought. Finally, we investigated the influence of Daejonggyo thought in the formation of Bongwoo’s ideas and what Daejonggyo thought originality appeared in Bongwoo’s ideas.
