연구 목적: 이 연구의 목적은 가덕도 일본군 군사시설 사적지를 ‘다크헤리티지’의 현장이자 ‘다크투어리즘’의 장소로 자리매김을 목적으로 하고 그 가치를 재고하고자 한다. 연구 방법: 다크투어리즘의 이론적 고찰과 현장 답사를 병행한 사료분석, 현존하는 군사시설 조사를 통해 지속가능한 다크투어리즘 사적지로서의 가치를 재고한다. 연구 내용: 부산은 도심 곳곳에 다크투어리즘의 관광자원이 산재해 있다. 최근 대두되는 가덕도 신공항 건설과 함께 가덕도 내 문화유산 등에 관심이 쏠린다. 정부는 2030년 엑스포 유치와 연계하여 속도가 붙은 가덕도 신공항 건설은 5년 이상 앞당겨져 2029년 12월에 개항할 계획을 밝히는데, 가덕도 내의 일본군 군사시설 사적지를 다크헤리티지의 현장이자 다크투어리즘의 장소로 자리매김함과 동시에 가치를 재고하고자 한다. 결론 및 제언: 가덕도 신공항 건설은 불가역적 국책사업이지만 가덕도 일본군 군사시설 사적지에 대하여 보존 가치를 진단하여 철거 대상이 아닌 보존의 장소자산으로 인식하여 미래 세대의 역사 교육을 위한 공간으로 형성해 나가야 할 것이다. 이에 다크투어리즘 사적지로서의 가치가 있음을 증명하는 데에 그 의의가 있다고 볼 수 있다.

In rethinking the dark tourism value of the historical site of Japanese military facilities in Gadeok Island, this paper aims to presuppose the issue of building a new airport, an irreversible national project described above. Therefore, the purpose of establishing the historical site of Japanese military facilities in Gadeok Island as a site of “dark tourism” and a place of “dark heritage” is to reconsider its value. First, we would like to examine the value of the place through a theoretical consideration of dark tourism. Second, we identify existing Japanese military facilities along with historical analysis in parallel with field exploration. Third, we would like to reconsider the value of it as a sustainable dark tourism historical site and at the same time seek ways to build a new model.
