This study examines the similarities in the storytelling methods and themes of the movies Love Letter and ASAKOⅠ& Ⅱ. The most striking commonality between the two films is that the main characters portrays two different characters. A close examination of the narrative structure of these two works reveals that they are extremely complex and detailed and use multi-layered metaphors. Concurrently, it becomes clear that the more complex the structure, the more important the subject is. The similarities in the characters’ looks stand out as a common feature in both works, raising the issue of personal identity and the confusion that it has on those around them. It can be interpreted that the backdrop of characters that look alike is a method to indicate how the person and the people around them get hurt. In addition, scenes, images, lines, etc., are repeated in the story, and although they seem similar, they depict a variation. This method illustrates that past incidents have left scars on the protagonists and continue to affect them, sketching characters' personalities through the methods of repetition and variation. These two works constantly picture the protagonist's specific bodily movements, sensations, and bodily states. This method of storytelling portrays how women who get hurt and fall in despair accept their fate, overcome the past, and move on with life.
