본 연구는 자폐스펙트럼장애 환자의 삶 내부의 의료 경험을 보호자의 이야기를 통해 환자와 보호자가 구체적으로 어떤 의료 경험을 하는지 전달하고자 하였으며, 이 과정을 내러티브 탐구로 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 자폐스펙트럼장애 환자의 보호자는 진단 그리고 치료 및 입원 등의 과정에서 끊임없이 주보호자로서의 책임을 크게 느끼며, 자폐스펙트럼장애 환자의 의료 경험은 실상 의학에 대한 것이 아닌, 의료를 접하게 하는 매개체인 의료인에 집중되어 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 자폐스펙트럼장애 환자의 의료 경험은 환자 본인의 성장과 함께 진행되며, 병원에서 끝나지 않고 학교 그리고 복지시설의 이야기로 확장되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 의료-교육-복지의 연계, 표준화된 가이드 등의 실천적 제언을 제시하였다.

This study analyzed the medical experience in the life of patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder through the stories of their guardians and tried to convey what kind of medical experiences the patients and guardians had in detail, and tried to find out this process through narrative analysis. As a result of the study, the guardians of patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder constantly feel the responsibility as the guardian in the process of diagnosis, treatment, and hospitalization, and the medical experience of patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder is not about medicine but focuses on the medical person who is a medium to access medical care. It was found that it had been In addition, the medical experience of patients with Autism Spectrum Disorders progressed along with the patient’s growth, and it did not end at the hospital, but expanded to schools and welfare facilities. Based on these research results, practical suggestions such as the connection between medical care, education, welfare, and standardized guides were presented.
