본 연구는 중등 영어교육 상황에서의 인성교육에 관한 국내 연구동향을 파악 하여 후속연구 방향을 제시하고 관련 연구를 촉진하기 위한 기초를 마련하는 것을 목표로 수행되었다. 연구대상은 2013년부터 2022년까지 출간된 국내 등재학술지 및 학위논문 18편이다. 연구시기에 따른 분석 결과 개정 교육과정과 인성교육진흥법이 공표된 2015년 전후로 인성교육과 관련한 활발한 연구가 진행되었다. 연구유형 분석에 실천연구가 가장 높은 비율을 나타내었는데 인성교육프로그램 개발 및 적용, 인성교육 방법 및 효과, 변인연구, 인성교육평가와 같은 연구가 진행되었다. 기초 연구에는 인성에 대한 인식 및 태도·실태 현황조사와 같은 연구가 수행되었다. 셋째, 연구대상 분석에 중고등학생, 현직 영어교사를 포함한 인적대상연구와 영어 교과서와 인성 관련 학술지 연구논문을 분석한 물적대상, 프로그램과 교수방법, 교육활동에 관한 연구가 다양하게 이루어지고 있었다. 연구 방법에 따른 영문학 텍스트나 다양한 교수학습방법 등을 활용한 수업지도안 개발을 목적으로 하는 질적연구가 가장 높은 비율을 나타내었다. 후속연구를 위한 제언으로 통합적인 기초연구와 실제 영어교육현장에서의 실험연구들과 교실을 넘어 가정과 사회 차원의 연계된 통합인성교육에 대한 깊이 있는 연구가 요구된다.

This study examines current research trends in personhood education in secondary English education by reviewing literature published between 2013 and 2022. The study reveals that personhood education has received considerable attention since the introduction of a revised curriculum in 2015. Most of the research has focused on practical aspects such as program development and effective teaching methods. The research subjects include secondary students, teachers, textbooks, and journal articles. Qualitative research methods were widely used. These findings provide valuable insights for promoting personhood education among secondary English learners, guiding future research directions, and laying a strong foundation for further investigations in this field. The study recommends additional research in integrated foundational studies, experimental studies conducted in real classroom settings, and personhood education that extends beyond the classroom to encompass households and society.
