현재 국제사회에서는 글로벌리즘이 보편화되어 있음에도 불구하고 내셔널리즘과 전체주의의 부활과 충돌이 끊임없이 야기되고 있다는 인식에 따라서 이 논문을 연구하게 되었다. 미어샤이머의 공격적 현실주의 이론에 따른 국제정치 현실에서 글로벌리즘이 표방하는 안정이나 평화와는 달리 글로벌리즘이 오히려 위기와 갈등의 원인이 될 수 있다는 역설적인 측면에 주목하였다. 본 연구를 통해서 현재의 글로벌리즘은 변화와 진보를 요구받고 있다고 생각한다. 첫째로 글로벌리즘은 국가 주권과의 충돌로 내셔널리즘과 탈세계화에 영향을 미치고 있다. 둘째로 글로벌리즘은 탈냉전 이후 전체주의 체제들과 동행하면서 글로벌리즘의 정체성이 위협받고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째로 글로벌리즘을 주도하는 비국가 행위자들은 글로벌리즘을 대의명분으로 국가 주권이나 개인의 자유를 침해하면서 새로운 전체주의로 기능할 수 있다는 점을 엿볼 수 있었다. 장차 글로벌리즘은 최소한 전체주의 세력들과는 상호 연결과 네트워크의 깊이를 조정하고, 세계화의 속도를 줄여나가며, 새로운 규범의 정립을 모색해야 할 것이다.

Despite the prevalence of globalism in the current international community, the resurgence and clash of nationalism and totalitarianism is constantly causing this study. In the international political reality according to Mearsheimer's offensive realism theory, I paid attention to the paradoxical aspect that, unlike the stability or peace that globalism advocates, globalism can rather cause crises and conflicts. In this thesis, I think that the current globalism requires change and progress. First, globalism is influencing nationalism and deglobalization as it collides with national sovereignty. Second, it was confirmed that the identity of globalism is threatened as globalism accompanies totalitarian regimes after the post-Cold War. Third, it was possible to get a glimpse of the fact that non-state actors leading globalism could function as a new totalitarianism while violating national sovereignty or individual freedom with globalism as a cause. In the future, globalism will have to at least adjust the depth of interconnection and network with totalitarian forces, slow down the pace of globalization, and seek to establish new norms.
