본 연구는 장애인복지기관에서 실행되고 있는 발달장애 성인 대상 성교육 실태를 조사하고, 발달장애인의 성에 대한 기관 종사자의 태도를 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 경기도 31개 시·군에 소재한 장애인복지기관 종사자(장애인복지관, 거주시설, 공동생활가정)를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문지는 장애인복지기관의 성교육 실태 및 어려움, 장애인복지기관 종사자의 성교육에 대한 지원 요구를 묻는 문항과 발달장애인의 성에 대한 태도를 묻는 검사도구를 포함하였다. 연구결과 대부분의 기관에서는 연간계획에 성교육 계획을 포함하고 있었으나 성교육 시간은 5시간 미만으로 제공되고 있었다. 또한 주로 20~30대 발달장애인을 대상으로만 성교육이 제공되고 있었다. 성교육의 내용은 주로 개인안전(성폭력 예방 및 대처 기술 등)과 건강한 관계(데이트, 애정표현, 의사소통 등)를 포함하였으며, 성교육 시 가장 어려운 점으로 참고할 성교육 자료나 활용할 교재의 부족을 지적하였다. 발달장애인의 성에 대한 기관 종사자의 태도를 살펴본 결과, 전반적으로 긍정적인 태도를 보였다. 본 연구는 발달장애 성인을 대상으로 한 성교육의 실태와 기관 종사자가 지닌 발달장애인 성에 대한 태도를 조사함으로써 발달장애 성인의 성교육의 방향성을 정립하고 확대하는데 유용한 기초자료를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

The present study aimed to examine the status of sexuality education in service agencies and attitudes toward the sexuality of individuals with developmental disabilities that the staffs held. The staffs in the service agencies located in the Gyeonggi province responded to the survey. The survey included questions regarding sexuality education status, the staffs’ awareness and needs on sexuality education, and their attitudes toward sexuality. Most agencies had an annual sexuality education plan and provided sexuality education for less than 5 hours. The content included personal safety and healthy relationships(dating, sexual expression, communication, etc.), and the staffs had difficulties due to lack of appropriate materials. Overall, the staffs showed positive attitudes towards the sexuality of individuals with developmental disabilities. This study has significant implications in that the findings provide useful data to develop directions of sexuality education and to expand sexuality education for individuals with developmental disabilities.
