The government represented by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy has been striving to secure a continuous market and create growth energy through active promotion of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), considering our economic structure as an open trade country. To support the utilization of FTAs signed with foreign countries by small and medium-sized companies across the country, the government has established and operated FTA comprehensive support centers and 18 regional FTA utilization support centers based on the Ministry of Industry's order. However, the existing FTA utilization policy that focuses on the use of preferential tariffs has limitations in the rapidly changing trade environment. Therefore, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy launched a pan-ministerial consultation to help companies adapt to the changing trade environment. The Trade Promotion Agency Council aims to resolve difficulties faced by small and medium-sized companies when exporting by receiving non-tariff barriers, reflecting them in trade negotiations and policies with foreign countries. The Council will act as a communication channel by explaining the latest trends and responses from companies on various issues. This pan-ministerial trade promotion agency council aims to differentiate from existing local government-centered export support policies, and it has current implementation plans and future plans. The regional trade promotion agency council, launched under this agreement, is expected to play a significant role in overcoming the crisis of small and medium-sized companies vulnerable to changes in the trade environment amid growing uncertainties in external economic conditions, such as protectionism.
