This study will focus mainly on the importance of the role and the authority of a teacher in the traditional education of ballet. And by researching the teachers’ authority inherent ballet teachings of Enrico Cecchetti, who is remembered as a great teacher in ballet history, the researcher would like to suggest the importance of teachers’ authority in the education of ballet. In order to support the thesis explored in this study, educators and philosophers John Dewey and Richard S. Peters’ works on the essential significance of teachers’ authority in education were thoroughly researched. Through research, three overarching principles were discovered within the Cecchetti’s method of teaching and they are as follows; ‘Routine’, ‘Reconciliation’, and ‘Reconstitution’. These three principles seem to align seamlessly with the concepts of Education and Authority suggested by Dewey and Peters, and also has its foundation deeply rooted in the values of traditional ballet education.
