2022년에 출시된 ChatGPT는 대화형 인공지능 챗봇으로 높은 성능을 보이며 언어 교육에서 활용되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 대화형 인공지능 챗봇(Chatbot)인 ChatGPT와 한국어 학습자의 상호작용 분석을 통해 한국어교육에서 대화형 인공지능 챗봇의 적용 가능성을 탐색하는 데에 있다. 이를 위해 고급 한국어 학습자 3인을 섭외하여 쓰기, 말하기 과제를 수행하게 하여 상호작용 결과를 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 쓰기 과제는 쓰기 수정, 글 작성, 자유로운 쓰기이며, 말하기 과제는 인터뷰, 대화/역할극 생성, 자유로운 말하기 과제이다. 그 결과, ChatGPT가 완벽하지는 않지만 한국어교육에서도 적용가능하며, 특히 해외 학습자의 말하기 연습용, 학습자 맞춤형 학습, 학습자의 말하기 불안감 감소 및 자기주도적 학습 유도 등의 측면에서 유용성을 지닌다고 보았다.

Released in 2022, ChatGPT is an AI chatbot that has shown high performance and is being utilized in language education. The purpose of this study is to explore the potential application of ChatGPT, a conversational AI chatbot, in Korean language education through an analysis of interactions between ChatGPT and Korean language learners. To achieve this, three advanced Korean language learners were recruited to perform writing and speaking tasks, and the interaction results were analyzed. The writing tasks presented in this study included writing revision, composition, and free writing, while the speaking tasks included interviews, conversation/roleplaying generation, and free speaking. As a result, while ChatGPT is not perfect, it is applicable in Korean language education, particularly in aspects such as speaking practice for overseas learners, personalized learning, reducing learners' speaking anxiety, and promoting self-directed learning.
