연구 목적: 이 연구는 2000년대에 5·18을 소재로 한 장편소설들이 우리 사회의 역사적 사건을 다루는 문학의 윤리적 방식에 대한 것이다. 연구 방법: 연구방법은 문학과 윤리의 관계를 천착한 국내외 학자들의 논문을 참고하여 문학 작품이 사회 문제를 다루는 방식을 차용했다. 연구 내용: 이 논문의 연구 내용은 5·18을 호명하는 문학의 윤리적 방식을 살아남은 자의 부끄러움에서 비롯된 죄의식의 주체, 정치적인 이유로 법적 정의의 실현이 좌절된 시대상의 반영으로 사적 복수를 꿈꾸는 주체, 5·18을 과거의 역사적 사건으로만 규정하지 않고 현재화된 의미를 발견해내려는 주체를 작품별로 나누어 분석했다. 결론 및 제언: 5·18을 다루는 2000년대의 장편소설은 기존의 주된 정서인 죄의식과 부끄러움을 드러내기도 하지만 시대상이 반영된 사적 복수나 5·18의 현재화된 의미를 찾으려는 내용으로 다각화되었다. 이후에도 다양한 서사와 형식으로 5·18을 이야기하기 바란다.

This study is about the ethical way of literature dealing with the historical events of our society in the 2000s based on the May 18th. As for the research method, the method of dealing with social issues in literary works was borrowed by referring to the thesis of domestic and foreign scholars who investigated the relationship between literature and ethics.
