코로나 바이러스 감염증(이하 코로나19)은 200개 이상의 국가에 확산되어 세계 공간에 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 접근성과 대면 접촉을 강조하던 기존 지리학의 대전제가 사회적 거리 두기와 비대면 접촉이라는 뉴노멀로 변하였다. 이 연구는 새로운 관행이 도시 공간의 뉴노멀로 자리 잡은 현 시점에서, 도시 공간에서의 일상 변화와 포스트 코로나 시대에 등장할 수 있는 도시공간구조를 이론적으로 탐색하는 데 목적을 두었다. 도시 공간에서의 변화상은 법·제도, 경제, 사회, 문화로 분야를 구분하였다. 법·제도 부문에서는 유연화가 눈에 띄었고, 경제 부문에서는 경기 침체와 더불어 비대면 산업의 부상이 대표적이었다. 사회 부문에서는 대중교통 이용 기피와 공간적 불평등의 심화가 주를 이루었고, 문화 부문에서는 온라인 플랫폼이 활성화되었다. 이러한 변화로 도시가 다양화 및 재구조화될 것으로 예측된다. 또한 재택근무의 활성화로 인해 교(郊)의 성장도 가능할 것이며, 장거리 이동이 줄어들었다는 점에서 압축도시로의 전환도 예상되었다. 변화된 일상에 적응한 포스트 코로나 시대의 도시 공간에 대한 지속적 담론 연구가 필요하며, 이 연구는 변화하는 도시 공간 연구의 초석이 될 것이다.
The COVID-19 has been spread to over 200 countries and has had a significant impact on the global space. Discourses on urban space have changed from the accessibility and the face to face contact, which were prerequisite of geography, to the social distancing and the non face to face contact. The purpose of this study is to theoretically explore the daily changes in urban space, and the urban spatial structure that can emerge in the Post COVID-19 era at this point in time when new practices have become the new normal of urban space. The changes in urban space could be divided into law & institution, economical, social, and cultural fields. In the law & institution field, the flexibilization stood out, and in the economic field, the economic downturn along with the rise of noncontact industry was representative. In the social field, the avoidance of using public transportation and the deepening spatial inequality were the mainstreams, and in the cultural field, online platforms were being activated. On the other hand, by these changes in the urban space, it was expected that the diversification and the restructuring of urban space would be possible. In addition, due to the activation of teleworking and the reduce of long-distance travel, the growth of suburb and the transition to compact city would be possible. Continuous research on the urban space in the Post COVID-19 era is required, and this will be the milestone of the study on the changing urban space.
