Themethoddetectionlimit(MDL)usingUV-VISspectrometry(UV/VIS)istheprimarymethodtodetectbrominecompoundsinthefluegas.However,thelevelofbrominecompoundsinthefluegasis0.6ppm,reaching20%oftheemissionlimitof3.0ppm,whichlimitstheanalysisoflow-concentrationsamples.AspertheUnitedStatesEnvironmentalProtectionAgencyandofficialteststandardsforwaterpollution,brominecompoundanalysiswasperformedusingionchromatography(IC).HydrogenchloridewasanalyzedusingIC,referencingofficialteststandardsforairpollution.Therefore,0.1MNaOHanddistilledwater(D.W.)wereappliedtotheabsorptionsolutionoftheICanalysissample.ValidationwasconductedforIC(D.W.),IC(0.1MNaOH),andUV/VIS(0.1MNaOH)toimprovetheanalysismethodforbrominecompoundsinthefluegas.Thelinearity(R2)ofthecalibrationcurveforIC(D.W.)satisfiedtheR2(0.98ormore)valuecalculatedintheUV/VISoftheofficialteststandardsforairpollution.However,theR2ofUV/VIS(0.1MNaOH)andIC(0.1MNaOH)wasnotsatisfied.InIC(D.W.)analysisresults,theaveragevaluesofMDL,MLQ(minimumlevelofquantification),accuracyandprecisionwere0.127ppm,0.403ppm,3.7%,and102.9%,respectively.MDLandMLQshowedthelowestconcentrationcomparedtotheothertwomethods,andhadhighaccuracyandprecision.Regardingtherecoveryratebytheabsorbingliquid,IC(D.W.)wasthehighestat93.55%,followedbyUV/VIS(0.1MNaOH)andIC(0.1MNaOH).ThisstudyanalyzedbrominecompoundsinfluegaswithhigheraccuracyandprecisionusingtheIC(D.W.)methodcomparedtoIC(0.1MNaOH)andUV/VIS(0.1MNaOH).
