본 연구는 유아기 장애이해교육용 그림책 활용과 그림책 선정기준에 대한 유아교사의 인식을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 광주광역시에 위치한 국ㆍ공립 유치원 및 어린이집, 사립 유치원에 근무하고 있는 유아교사 290명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 유아교사의 장애이해교육용 그림책 활용에 관한 실태에서 장애관련 그림책 보유량은 5권 이하가 가장 높게 나타났으며, 장애이해교육용 그림책의 활용여부에 대해서는 장애관련 그림책을 활용하지 않는 교사가 많았는데, 그 이유로는 장애에 대한 지식의 부족이라는 응답이 가장 많았다. 유아교사의 장애이해교육용 그림책 활용에 대한 인식에서는 현재 출판되고 있는 장애이해교육용 그림책 수량이 부족하다는 응답이 많았고, 모든 장애유형별 장애이해교육용 그림책 목록개발과 그림책 선정기준이 필요하다고 응답하였다. 또한 유아교사의 변인에 따른 장애이해교육용 그림책 요소별(글, 그림, 내용측면) 선정기준은 교사의 경력, 장애관련 연수경험, 장애 유아 지도경험, 장애이해교육 실시여부에 따라 그림책의 글 측면, 그림 측면 그리고 내용 측면에서 부분적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다. 이러한 결과는 유아교사들에게 장애이해교육용 그림책을 선정하는데 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이며, 그림책 선정기준을 체계화하고 그림책을 활용한 장애이해교육 프로그램 마련과정에서 그 적합성을 판단하는 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the early childhood teacher’s perception on the actual application and selection criteria of picture book for disability understanding education. For an optimal examination, 290 teachers from 30 early childhood institutions, which are located in Gwang-Ju, were surveyed. First, as a result of the research on the actual condition, the amount of disability -related picture books were less than five books. Most teachers didn’t use the disability-related picture books due to lack of knowledge about disability. secondly, as a result of teacher’s perception on the selection criteria of picture book for the disability understanding education, the sub-categories(literature, educational content and artiness) of selection criteria were a significant difference partially according to teacher’s variables(career, disability-related training experience, the teaching experience and disability understanding education of the children with disabilities). Like this result the early childhood teachers will be helpful in selecting a picture book for disability understanding education. Further, it could be applied to fundamental data to even judge the suitability from the process which prepares the disability understanding program using picture book.
