As can be seen from the recent Russian-Ukrainian war, modem warfare has many limitations for a country to conduct a long-term war alone. Accordingly, the war-fighting countries display and maintain their combat capability by receiving various war materials directly or indirectly from other friendly countries.
Due to the topographical characteristics of the Korean Peninsula, there are many limiting factors and many realistically impossible factors to support 100% of various resources with only vehicles.
Logistics support using the sea is emerging as an important factor to supplement these limitations. Sea transport is a very important means of providing timely support for large quantities of war materials that can wage war and change the tide of war. In this paper, the geographical characteristics of the territorial waters of the Korean Peninsula, the current status of ports and climate characteristics, their impact on maritime transport, the concept and performance system of maritime transport, maritime terminals and coastal landing logistics support, and development plans were studied.
In wartime, sea transport must be used as an indispensable means of transport.
In order to complete this, it is necessary to expand and reinforce the organization of the current minimum size port force and transport force. In addition, the CFC and the ROK JCS need attention to ensure that combined exercises or joint exercises are conducted at least once a year, and the efforts of the asset management unit and each service to implement them are absolutely necessary.
