이 연구는 장애유아 어머니들의 돌봄 경험을 탐색함으로써 그들의 삶에서 장애자녀 돌봄의 의미가 무엇인지 이해하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 8명의 장애유아 어머니들을 대상으로 심층면담을 수행하였으며, 어머니들의 이야기는 내러티브 탐구에 의해 분석되었다. 그들의 이야기를 분석한 결과, 첫째, 장애유아 어머니들은 자기 자신과의 싸움에서부터 자녀 돌봄을 시작하였다. 둘째, 장애유아 어머니들은 자녀를 돌보는 일이 혼자만의 것이 아님을 인식하였다. 셋째, 장애유아 어머니들은 자녀의 강점과 미래에 대한 계획을 통해 돌봄에 대한 적응유연성을 키워가고 있었다. 넷째, 장애유아 어머니들은 ‘자기-돌봄과 자녀-돌봄’ 사이에서 자기정체성을 확립하고자 하는 경험을 하였다. 이 연구는 장애유아 어머니와 관련 서비스를 제공하는 교사 및 심리상담사 등의 전문가들에게 유용한 도움이 될 것이다.

This study aims to understand meaning to caring disabled young children in their life by exploring the care experience of mothers of young children with disabilities. To this end, focusing on 8 mothers of young children with disabilities, the in-depth interview were conducted. The stories of mothers were analyzed by narrative inquiry. In their stories, the following was found that care experience. Based on the story of mothers, the following conclusions were drawn. First, mothers of young children with disability started the caring form the fight against their own. Second, they recognized that it's not the only one taking care of the children. Third, they was gaining the resilience of caring through the child's strengths and future plans. Fourth, they was going to find self-identity between the ‘self-care and child-care’. This study will be helpful to professionals(teachers & psychologist) who want to provide services related to mother of disabled young children.
