본 연구는 긍정적 행동지원이 장애아동의 일상생활동작과 장애아동 어머니의 자존감에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지 알아보는 것이었다. 일상생활이 독립적이지 못하고 의존적 일상생활동작을 나타내어 가족, 학교, 사회생활에 어려움을 가지고 있는 장애아동 3명과 장애아동의 어머니 3명을 대상으로 하였다. 연구결과 긍정적 행동지원을 통하여 대상아동의 의존적 일상생활동작이 감소하였고 대상아동 어머니의 자존감은 향상되었다. 긍정적 행동지원 중재가 종료된 후에도 아동의 의존적 일상생활동작 감소와 어머니의 자존감 향상이 유지되었다. 본 연구에서는 긍정적 행동지원이 장애아동의 의존적 일상생활동작의 감소에 영향을 미치고 장애아동 어머니의 자존감 향상에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

Objective of this study was to identify the effects of positive behavior supports on the ADL of handicapped child and self-esteem of handicapped child’s mother. This study was targeting 3 handicapped children and 3 handicapped children’s mothers who don’t have independent daily living but show dependent daily living activities and have difficulty in family, school and social life. Study results showed dependent daily living activities of target children were reduced with positive behavior supports and self-esteem of target children’s mother was improved. Reduction of children’s dependent ADL and mothers’ self-esteem were maintained as well after positive behavior support intervention was completed. This study showed positive behavior supports affected the reduction of handicapped children’s dependent ADL and improved self-esteem of their mother.
