4차산업혁명 시대를 접하면서 산업디자인도 시대의 변화, 과학기술의 변화, 환경과 문명의 변화에 따른 목적과 전략 그에 따른 개선된 방법론을 개발하여 적응하여야 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 4차산업혁명 시대를 대비한 기업과 국가와 전 세계의 인류가 어떻게 대처하여야 하는가에 관한 연구이기도 하다. 4차산업혁명 시대는 인류의 환경과 문명이 급변하면서 발전되고 있다. 본 연구는 4차산업의 핵심기술과 그에 따른 파급효과에 대한 분석을 통하여 산업디자인의 신 혁신 체계를 수립하고 4차산업과의 상관관계를 분석 연구함으로써 근미래의 인류문명과 환경개선을 위한 연구이다. 21세기에 접어들면서 급속히 발전한 첨단과학기술은 4차산업혁명 시대를 앞당겼으며 이에 관한 연구는 필연적이라 할 수 있다. 4차산업혁명에 의한 인류문명의 급속한 발전과 근미래에 예상되는 환경변화를 연구함으로써 그에 따른 산업디자인의 새로운 체계와 전략에 관하여 분석 연구하였다. 또한, 산업디자인에 의한 기업경영의 발전과 세계인류문명의 발전은 그 어느 세기보다 중요한 요인이라 할 수 있다. 본 연구를 위하여 선행연구자료의 분석과 함께 4차산업혁명시대의 문명을 분석함으로써, 21세기 이후 근미래를 대비한 산업디자인의 혁신 체계에 관하여 연구하였다. 4차산업혁명 시대에 접어든 현재의 인류문명은 곧 다가올 5차 산업 시대를 대비한 근 미래적인 대안을 제시해야 할 매우 긴박한 현실이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 현재의 4차산업혁명 시대를 심도 있게 분석, 연구함으로써 근미래 산업에 대비할 수 있는 다양한 대책과 방안을 연구 제시하였다.
