본 연구는 프로 운동선수 출신 체육교사의 진로전환 과정에 관한 내러티브 탐구로써, 연구 참여자들의 이야기를 해석하고 이에 담긴 의미를 분석하여 그들의 성공적인 진로전환 과정을 이야기로 풀어내어 체육교사로의 진로전환 사례를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 연구 참여자는 프로 운동선수에서 공립 중, 고등학교 체육교사로 진로를 전환한 3명을 유목적적 표집으로 선정하였다. 연구 방법은 내러티브 방법을 선택하였으며, 반 구조화된 질문지를 활용한 심층 면담을 통해 질적 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 인터뷰 내용은 그대로 전사하여 연구자가 반복하여 읽고 그 안에 있는 의미를 찾으며 범주화하는 작업을 거쳤다. 이를 통해 연구 참여자들의 인터뷰에서 공통적인 결론을 도출하였으며, 그 결론은 세 가지의 연대기적 범주로 분류할 수 있다. 첫째는 연구 참여자들이 프로 운동선수가 되는 과정이다. 둘째는 은퇴 후 체육교사로의 진로전환 과정이다. 마지막으로는 프로 운동선수 출신 체육교사들의 제2의 삶에 관한 이야기이다. 본 연구는 체육교사가 되기 위하여 임용시험을 준비하는 운동선수 출신 예비 체육교사들에게 성공적인 진로전환 사례를 제공함으로써 운동선수 출신 예비 체육교사들이 임용시험을 준비하는 어려움에 대해 공감대를 형성하고 이를 위한 긍정적인 시사점을 제공하는 데 목적이 있다.

This study was a narrative exploration of the career transition process of sports teachers from professional athletes, and aims to provide a case of career transition to physical education teachers by interpreting the stories of research participants and analyzing their meanings. The study participants selected three people who changed their careers from professional athletes to public middle and high school physical education teachers as purposeful sampling. As the research method, the narrative method was selected, and qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews using semi-structured questionnaires. The collected interviews were transcribed as they were, and the researcher repeatedly read them, found the meaning in them, and categorized them. Through this, a common conclusion was drawn from interviews of study participants, and the conclusions can be classified into three chronological categories. The first was the process of research participants becoming professional athletes. The second was the career transition process to a physical education teacher after retirement. Finally, it was a story about the second life of physical education teachers who were former professional athletes. The purpose of this study was to provide a successful career change case to prospective physical education teachers who are preparing for the appointment test to become physical education teachers, forming a consensus on the difficulties of preparing for the appointment test.
