Betulin, birch bark extract, is a pentacyclic triterpene. In many published articles, betulin shows anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and differentiation-promoting effects. A betulin can be used in moisturized without preservatives and detergent emulsifiers. In many dermatologic disease, typical topical treatments mainly include corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors, despite frequently observed adverse events, such as skin atrophy, itching and burning sensations. Alternative topical solution is needed in many diseases. We report the potential using for skin barrier function restoration and anti-inflammatory effect with betulin emulsion.
