본 연구의 목적은 강순미의 피아노 독주곡 <아리랑 판타지>에 나타난 음악적 특징과 어법을 분석하여 이 작품을 연주하고자하는 연주자들에게 도움을 주는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 강순미의 작품세계와 피아노 작품들을 살펴보고 이를 바탕으로 <아리랑 판타지>를 분석하였다. 이 작품은 바이올린 독주곡을 피아노 독주곡으로 개작한 것이지만 피아노 악기의 특성을 잘 살려 원곡에서의 독립성을 확보했다. 이 곡은 크게 ‘서주-경기도아리랑-강원도아리랑-코다’로 나뉘며 서주와 코다는 즉흥연주, ‘경기도아리랑’ 부분은 장조, 선율성 강조, 경쾌한 리듬, ‘강원도아리랑’ 부분은 단조, 리듬성 강조, 다소 공격적인 흐름을 특징으로 한다. 곡 전반에 걸쳐 잦은 전조와 변박, 한배형식 장단변화, 반음계적 진행, 불규칙적 강세와 선율의 변주를 사용하였다. 피아노 주법으로는 양손으로 나누어 치는 빠른 음계 음형, 장식음과 트레몰로, 화음군의 선율적 사용, 피아노 악기의 넓은 음역 활용, 클러스터 등을 다양하게 사용하였다. 특히 강렬한 화음군을 이용한 장단의 표현은 피아노의 타악기적인 면모를 잘 드러냈다. 이 작품은 작곡가 강순미가 추구해온 한국적 소재를 재해석하고 한국 음악과 서양음악 융합방식의 미학을 잘 드러낸 곡이다.
The purpose of this study is to help performers of < Arirang Fantasy > by Soonmee Kahng for piano solo by analyzing musical features and idioms of the piece. To this end, first, Soonmee Kahng’s musical style and piano works were examined, and < Arirang Fantasy > was analyzed based on this. Although this work is an adaptation of a violin and piano into a piano solo piece, it has secured independence from the original piece by making good use of the characteristics of the piano instrument. < Arirang Fantasy > is divided into ‘Introduction - Gyeonggido Arirang - Gangwondo Arirang - Coda’: the introduction and Coda are improvisational sections, ‘Gyeonggido Arirang’ part employs major, melodic emphasis, upbeat rhythm, and ‘Gangwondo Arirang’ part employs minor, rhythmic emphasis, somewhat aggressive flow. Throughout the piece, frequent modulations and meter changes, Jangdan changes based on Hanbae form, chromatic progressions, irregular accents, and melodic variations were used. As for the piano technique, a variety of fast scale passages divided into two hands, melodic embellishment and tremolo, melodic use of chord groups, utilizing wide register of piano instrument, and clusters were used. In particular, the expression of Jangdan using strong chord groups revealed the percussive aspect of the piano well. This work reinterprets the Korean material that composer Soonmee Kahng has been pursuing and is a piece that well reveals the aesthetics of the fusion of Korean music and Western music.
