This paper analyzed characteristics of the discourse development method for the 2nd generation Japanese-American by comparing the discourse marker's appearance tendency in their explaining situation with those of the younger generation in Tokyo and Osaka. As a result, the 2nd generation of Japanese-American was found not to frequently use discourse markers compared with the younger generation in Tokyo and Osaka. The reason for this difference is that the 2nd generation of Japanese-American could not learn the discourse development method usually used in Japan because of their born and grown environments where communications with native Japanese people were limited.
