(연구배경 및 목적) 1970년 이후 우리나라는 정부주도의 물리적 환경과 외형의 하드웨어 중점의 개발에 목적을 두고 성장에 치중하여 개발되었다. 하지만 2000년 이후 다원적 주체가 참여하는 도시재생사업이 시작되면서 새로운 공공 공간의 디자인 방향은 지역의 공공성을 기반으로 소프트웨어적인 측면에 초점을 두고 다양한 방법으로 접근하고 있다. 그 중심에는 지속가능성과 재생의 개념이 바탕이 되어 정체성 확립을 위한 노력들이 이어지고 있다. 본 연구는 지속가능한 북성로의 장소적가치를 형성하기 위하여 대중의 인식을 분석하여 장소적 특징이 무엇인지 도출한 후 장소정체성을 확립하기 위하여 대중의 인식에 관한 내면요인을 파악하고 시사점을 도출하는데 목적이 있다. (연구방법) 연구 범위는 기존에 조성되었던 북성로의 장소성과 새로운 변화를 앞두고 효과적인 장소정체성 확립을 위해 2020년 ~ 2022년 동안 북성로에 관한 소셜미디어 데이터 수집을 진행하고 그 결과를 분석하여 대중의 인식을 살펴보았다. 연구방법은 먼저, 북성로의 역할과 현황을 살펴보고 장소성에 관한 이론적 고찰을 진행하고 선행연구조사와 이론을 바탕으로 빅데이터를 활용한 텍스트마이닝 분석틀을 제시하였다. 그다음 분석결과를 도출하여 북성로의 장소적가치 형성에 관한 대중의 인식에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 파악하고 시사점을 도출하였다. (결과) 북성로는 다양한 사회기반 요소와 역사문화 가치들이 복합된 장소로 대중에게 물리적환경의 공간의 형태와 장소의 상징적 요소들은 비교적 많이 인식되어 있으나 행태적 경험을 위한 문화 프로그램이나 공연, 그에 따른 지역지원의 가치 등은 많이 알려지지 않은 것을 알 수 있었다. 북성로라는 장소는 사회인문적 활동과 관련된 인식이 강하게 나타났으며, 도시재생사업으로 다시 공간에 활력을 불어넣기 시작하면서 유의미한 키워드들이 많이 증가하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이는 북성로에서 하드웨어적 환경을 바탕으로 다양한 경험을 위한 소프트웨어적 행태가 많이 이루어져 장소적가치 형성에 대한 전반적인 상호작용이 이루어지고 있다고 보여진다. (결론) 이처럼 의미 있는 인식은 장소를 구성하고, 장소를 경험한 이용자들간의 공유된 긍정적 기억들은 주체자로서 장소에 상호작용할 수 있게 한다. 앞으로 지속가능한 공공공간의 디자인을 위한 지역의 특성과 사회적 가치들을 내포한 지역의 정체성이 잘 나타나는 차별화된 장소성을 바탕으로 한 장소적가치 확립방안이 필요할 것으로 보인다.

(Background and Purpose) Since 1970, Korea has been developing a government-led physical environment and external hardware with a focus on growth. However, since 2000, with the start of urban regeneration projects in which multiple actors participated, the design direction of new public spaces has been approached in a variety of ways, focusing on the software aspect based on the publicity of the region. The main efforts being made are focused on establishing an identity based on the concepts of sustainability and regeneration. The purpose of this study is to analyze the public’s perception of the sustainable place value of Bukseong-ro to derive what the place’s characteristics are and then to identify the internal factors related to the public’s perception and draw implications for establishing a place identity. (Method) This study collected social media data on Bukseong-ro from 2020 to 2022 to establish an effective place identity ahead of new changes in the existing placeness of Bukseong-ro; it then analyzed the results to raise public awareness. Regarding the research method, first, the role and current status of Bukseong-ro were examined, theoretical considerations were evaluated on the nature of a place, and a text-mining analysis framework using big data was presented based on previous research and theories. The factors that affect the public's perception of the formation of the place value of Bukseong-ro were then derived, and implications were drawn. (Results) Bukseong-ro is a place in which various social elements and historical and cultural values are combined. Although the shape of the space in the physical environment and the symbolic elements of the place, cultural programs, and performances for behavioral experience and the resulting area are relatively widely recognized by the public, results show that the value of support is not widely known. The awareness of Bukseong-ro is strongly related to social and humanistic activities, and keywords increased significantly as the urban regeneration project began to revitalize the space. This shows that there are many software behaviors related to various experiences based on the physical environment in Bukseong-ro, and an overall interaction between place and behaviors works to form the place value. (Conclusion) Meaningful recognition is an important aspect of a place, and shared positive memories among users who have experienced a place enable them to interact with it as a subject. In the future, it will be necessary to establish a place value based on a differentiated sense of place where the identity of the region, including the characteristics of the region and social values, is well-expressed for the design of sustainable public spaces.
