The purpose of this study is to find the suitable resources of healing industry and promotion strategies to establish healing industry as a local industry by combining the relevant resources in Busan. It is expected that healing industry will grow into a high value-added industry realizing high customer satisfactions by linking many related professional workers in the industry in response to diversifying customer needs. Busan has a great potential to develop healing industry because it has human and natural healing resources including mild oceanic climate, sea, mountains, rivers, hot springs etc. Basic approaches for promoting healing industry in Busan are promoting both the health of citizens and healing industry simultaneously, focusing on the preventive point of health promotion, fostering healing industry centering on ocean healing, and developing healing industry by linking tourism industry. Under four basic approach, there are six suggestions for promotion. Those include investigating demands and resources of healing industry, finding and expanding healing resources, establishing a cooperation system to support healing industry, building a ‘Busan Ocean Healing Complex’ serving as the cultivation center for healing industry, supporting development of healing programs, and building an ocean healing city image.
