본고에서는 고등학교 『역사 부도』 교과서에서 다루고 있는 10~14세기 동아시아 부분을 비판적으로 검토했다. 총 4종의 교과서를 분석한 결과, 중요한 내용에서부터 사소한 부분에 이르기까지 수정 혹은 개정이 이루어져야 하거나 혹은 신중한 재검토가 필요한 사항이 있다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 지도의 표기와 표현에 대한 재검토, 역사적 사실을 정밀하게 확인하여 제시하는 것, 적합한 용어의 활용 등을 바탕으로 한 개정이 엄밀하게 진행되어 부교재로서 중요한 의미를 지니고 있는 『역사 부도』의 정확성과 가독성을 더욱 높이는 작업을 진행해야 할 것이다. 10~14세기 동아시아는 거란, 여진, 몽골 등 북방민족의 세력이 확대되면서 커다란 역사적 변화를 겪었다. 그렇기 때문에 이들 북방민족에 대한 관점의 변화와 상세한 연구들을 기반으로 삼아 교과서에서도 점차적으로 개정 작업이 이루어져야 할 필요가 있다. 유목민들에 대한 기존의 편견은 이미 일찍부터 지적되어 왔고, 그로 인해 유목민들의 역사에 대한 학계의 연구 성과들이 교과서에서도 점점 반영되고 있지만 아직 부족한 점이 있는 것도 사실이다. 앞으로 본고에서 수정이 필요하다고 여겨지는 것으로 지적했던 내용들에 대한 검토가 이루어져 교과서의 개정 과정에 도움이 되었으면 하는 바람이다.

This paper critically reviewed the description of East Asia in the 10th between 14th centuries written in high school Historical Atlas textbooks. As a result of analyzing four textbooks, it was confirmed that there were matters that needed to be revised or that needed careful review. Revision based on the review of the map’s notation and expression, accurate confirmation and presentation of historical facts, and the use of appropriate terms will be strictly carried out to further enhance the accuracy and readability of Historical Atlas textbooks. East Asia in the 10th between 14th centuries underwent a major historical change because the power of northern peoples such as Khitan, Jurchen, and Mongol expanded. Therefore, it is necessary to gradually revise textbooks based on changes in the perspective of these northern peoples and detailed studies about nomads. Existing prejudices against nomads have already been pointed out early on, and as a result, academic research results on the history of nomads are increasingly reflected in textbooks, but it is also true that there are still deficiencies. In the future, I hope that the contents pointed out in this paper will be reviewed to help the textbook revision process.
