본 연구는 2015년 말부터 2021년까지 부산·울산·경남지역 신문의 기후변화 보도를 LDA(Latent Dirichlet Allocation) 토픽모델링 알고리즘을 이용해 분석했다. 토픽모델링 분석 결과, ‘기후위기 대응과 협력’, ‘신재생에너지와 친환경 기술’, ‘기후변화의 여파’, ‘에너지 기업 기후위기 대응’, ‘에너지 전환과 비용’, ‘기후 캠페인과 시민 참여’, ‘자연 재난과 대비’, ‘기후변화와 과학’, ‘탈석탄과 온실가스 감축’, ‘기후변화와 교육’, ‘해양수산’, ‘외교와 문화’, ‘기후정책과 정치’, ‘기타’등 14개 주제가 추출되었다. 이들 주제 중에서, ‘기후 캠페인과 시민 참여’와 ‘기후변화와 교육’은 다른 주제에 비해 기사의 주요 주제로 다루어졌으며, ‘에너지 전환과 비용’은 기사를 구성하는 여러 주제 중 하나로 보도된 경우가 많았다.

This study investigated climate change reports in local newspapers in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam between the end of 2015 and 2021, using the LDA(Latent Dirichlet Allocation) topic modeling algorithm. The study found 14 latent topics: ‘Climate crisis response and cooperation,’ ‘Renewable energy and eco-friendly technology,’ ‘Aftermath of climate change,’ ‘Energy business’s response to the climate crisis,’ ‘Energy transition and cost,’ ‘Climate campaign and citizen participation,’ ‘Disaster response,’ ‘Climate change and science,’ ‘De-coalition and greenhouse gas reduction,’ ‘Climate change and education,’ ‘Oceans and Fisheries,’ ‘Diplomacy and culture,’ ‘Climate policy and politics,’ and ‘Others.’ Compared to other topics, while ‘Climate campaign and citizen participation,’ and ‘Climate change and education’ were more likely to be covered as the main topic of an article, ‘Energy transition and cost’ was more likely to be reported as one of many topics consisting an article.
