본 연구는 언론인의 감염병 보도에 대한 인식을 파악하고 감염병 관련 보도 개선방향을 제안하기 위해 수행되었다. Q 방법론을 적용하여 분석한 결과 언론인의 감염병 보도 개선은 4개 유형이었다. 첫번째 유형은 기자의 전문성 강화를 통한 보도 개선 유형으로 취재관행 쇄신 중시형이다. 이는 감염병 관련 보도의 전문성과 저널리스트의 역량을 바탕으로 보도 개선의 방향을 찾고 있다. 두번째 유형은 취재 권한 확대 중시형으로 언론사의 신뢰있는 기사 제공을 통한 보도 개선 유형이다. 이는 언론사의 보도 시스템과 언론사의 보도 관행 개선을 시도하고자 하는 유형이다. 세번째는 준칙, 매뉴얼 중시형으로 감염병 보도준칙의 준용을 중시하는 유형이다. 이는 국내·국제적인 협조를 통해 감염병 관련 보도준칙을 개선하고, 이를 준용하는 것으로 개선의 방향을 찾고 있다. 마지막 유형은 특수상황 중시형으로 감염병 보도의 특수성을 우선순위에 둔 것이다. 재난재해 보도의 특수성을 고려한 특수성과 일반 보도와의 차별성 등을 통해 감염병 보도 개선을 제안한다.

This study was conducted to identify journalists’ perceptions of reporting on infectious diseases and to suggest directions for improving reporting on infectious diseases. As a result of the analysis by applying the Q methodology, four types of perceptions were derived. The first type is by strengthening the professionalism of reporters to improve reporting based on the expertise of reporting on infectious diseases and the capabilities of journalists. The second type is expansion of coverage rights. This type tries to improve the reporting system of the media and the reporting practices of the media. The third type is emphasize compliance with the rules and manuals. This type seeks a direction for improvement by improving reporting rules related to infectious diseases through domestic and international cooperation and applying them accordingly. The fourth type is report improvement that emphasizes the specificity of infectious disease coverage. It is proposed to improve the reporting of infectious diseases through the specificity of disaster reporting and differentiation from general reporting. The four types listed are suggesting practical alternatives for journalists to improve coverage of infectious diseases.
