The rulers of the Ching Dynasty entered the Central Plains not as Hanchu but as Manchu, absorbing the culture of the early Hanchu and establishing a multicultural state integrated with the Hanchu and Manchu. In the court, the Ching Dynasty implemented the cultural thought of “learning the customs of the Hanchu and using the customs of the Manchu)”. Court music also followed this idea to integrate Manchu and Hanchu cultures, among which the pipa is the best representative of cultural convergence. Research results
Until the Song Dynasty, a variety of pipa were used in court music, with different forms and playing methods. But there were two kinds of pipa used in the Ching court. The Ching Dynasty court pipa was divided into two kinds. Qinglong music dance pipa 庆隆乐舞琵琶 and Pan ensemble pipa 番部合奏琵琶. The Pan ensemble Pipa is a little smaller and does not have relatively crescent-like tone space, and there is no great difference in the rest. It can be inferred that the Ching court Pipa playing without the pick, and does not hold the pipa horizontally, hold the pipa vertically with fingers.
The music of the Ching court was divided into elegant and vulgar. Be affected by this. Sacrifice 祭祀, feast 宴飨, luobo 卤薄 with music as yayue 雅乐 pipa, and folk into the palace of Sanyue Baixi 散乐百戏, Qingyin tenfan 清音十番, western band used in the pipa as folk music Suyue 俗 乐 pipa. Among them, Yayue pipa combines Manchu culture and Han culture.
Influenced by folk music of the Hanchu nationality, the court pipa performance has also appeared in the form of solo. According to Ching Dynasty documents, Qingyin Shipan will use the folk pipa solo form. It can be seen that the court pipa is not only used by the Manchu court, but also used in the entertainment function of the Hanchu folk music. The pipa is a perfect blend of Manchu culture and Hanchu culture.
