본 연구는 윤세평의 『임진록』 가운데 경남 출신 의병장 곽재우와 사명당 서사의 수용양상에 초점을 맞춰 살펴보았다. 윤세평은 그의 책에서 의병활동을 다루었는데 한강이남 지역에서 활동한 경남 출신 의병장의 서사만 선택하고 있다. 임진년 초기 조선에 불리한 상황 속에서 왜군의 첫 진입로였던 경남에서 의병장으로 활약한 ‘곽재우’와 ‘사명당’의 영웅적 면모 속에 서사적 전략을 담고 있다. 첫째, 곽재우 서사에서는 초기 정진 전투를 상세히 묘사하면서 정유재란의 마지막 전투 창녕 ‘화왕산’ 전투까지 담아내고 있다. 그 속에 곽재우의 뛰어난 전술전략과 반외세에 맞서 싸운 구체적인 승리라는 역사성을 확보하고 있다. 둘째, 사명당 서사는 두 부분으로 나눠서 전개되는데 사명당이 승군을 일으킨 정당성과 항왜설화를 통해 복수의 과정을 담고 있다. 사명당 서사는 전체적으로 사명당의 역사적 행적을 과장·확대한 설화적 요소를 얹고 있다. 이를 통해 이야기의 흥미와 집중도를 높이는 동시에 왜에게 받은 상처를 돌려주며 민족적 자긍심을 갖게 하는 전략적 의도를 담고 있다. 앞으로 북한의 고전문학 원전 발굴에 따른 경남 지역과 관련한 논의로 이어지는 새 담론 구성 계기가 마련되기를 바란다.

This study focused on the acceptance patterns of Kwak Jae-woo, the chief of the righteous army from Gyeongnam, and the narrative of Samyeongdang among Yoon Se-pyeong's 『Lim Jin-rok』. In his book, Yoon Se-pyeong selects only the narrative of the righteous army chief from Gyeongnam among the righteous army who worked in the south of the Han River. It contains narrative strategies in the heroic aspects of "Kwak Jae-woo" and "Samyeongdang," who served as righteous army chiefs in Gyeongsangnam-do, the first access road for the Japanese army, in the early Joseon Dynasty. First, Kwak Jae-woo's narrative describes in detail the battle of the early righteous army and even the battle of Changnyeong Hwawang Mountain, the last battle of the Jeongyujaeran. Among them, Kwak Jae-woo's outstanding tactical strategy and a specific victory in the fight against anti-foreign forces are secured. Second, the narrative of Samyeongdang is divided into two parts, and it contains the process of revenge through the legitimacy and anti-Japanese narrative that Samyeongdang caused the victory. The narrative of Samyeongdang is a narrative element that exaggerates and expands the historical activities of Samyeongdang as a whole. Through this, it contains a strategic intention to increase the interest and concentration of the story while giving national pride to turn around the wounds received by the Japanese. In the future, it is hoped that there will be an opportunity to form a new discourse that will lead to discussions related to the Gyeongnam region following the discovery of North Korea's ancient science nuclear power plant.
