본 연구는 제주도의 관광자원의 활성화를 위한 연구이다. 천혜의 자연과 환경, 평화로움의 상징인 제주도는 또 다른 슬프고 아픈 역사를 간직하고 있는 이면의 섬이다. 과거의 일제강점기 시대와 해방 이후 아픔의 역사를 좀 더 이해하고 이에 따른 교훈과 더불어 관광자원으로 활성화하고자 한다. 아름다운 제주도가 일본으로부터 억압에서 벗어나기 전까지 일본이 중ㆍ일 전쟁을 준비하는 사실을 아는 이는 많지 않다. 1945년 전 일제강점기에 섬 전체는 태평양전쟁을 위하여 많은 제주도 사람들이 강제 동원되어 전쟁을 하기 위한 알뜨르비행장, 고사포진지 및 해안포진지, 진지동굴 등 대대적으로 공사가 진행하였던 아픈 역사 상처는 송악산지구를 비롯하여 주변 제주올레 10코스에 수 없이 남아있다. 이렇듯 제주도는 일본의 군사기지가 있어 제주도 주민들은 다른 지역보다 훨씬 더 많은 고통과 분노 속에서 살아 올 수밖에 없었다. 오늘날 제주 관광은 일반적으로 레저와 힐링 및 오락성이 있는 형태의 관광지로 부상하고 있다. 하지만 지금까지 아픈 역사의 상흔이 곳곳에 남아있는 제주 내에 숨겨진 일제의 흔적을 다시 한번 조명해 보면서, 제주의 어두운 역사를 다크투어리즘으로 배움과 교훈을 얻고자 한다. 따라서 전쟁ㆍ학살 등 역사적으로 우리 민족이 원치 않았던 참혹한 참상의 현장이 유난히 많았던 제주 마라해양도립공원 송악산지구와 주변 제주 올레 10코스에 대한 교훈과 유산으로 활용하고자 고찰하였다.
This study is to revitalize tourism resources in Jeju Island. Jeju Island, a symbol of natural beauty, environment, and peace, is an island behind another sad and painful history. The purpose of this study is to understand the history of suffering from the Japanese colonial era and post-liberation in the past, and to revitalize it as a tourism resource along with lessons. Not many people know that Japan prepared for the Sino-Japanese War until the beautiful Jeju Island was freed from oppression by Japan. During the Japanese colonial era period before 1945, many Jeju Island people were forcibly mobilized for the Pacific War to carry out major constructions such as airfields, anti-aircraft artillery camps, and camp caves. These many painful historical wounds remain on 10 Jeju Olle course, including Songaksan Mountain district. Because of the Japanese military base, Jeju Island people lived in much more pain and anger than in other regions. Today, Jeju tourism is generally emerging as a type of tourist destination with recreational properties. Therefore, the Songaksan District of Jeju Mara Marine Provincial Park and surrounding 10 Jeju Olle Courses, which historically had many scenes of disasters that Korean people did not want, such as war and massacre, were reviewed and considered to be used as a lesson and heritage.
