중국 입장에서 6·25전쟁 참전은 건국 이후 첫 해외파병이기 때문에 조선어와 영어 구사능력이 요구되었다. 이에 중국인민지원군은 참전하기 전, 그리고 한반도 전장에서도 외국어교재를 제작하여 부대원들이 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 그동안 학계에서는 古今의 외국어교재와 관련하여 다양한 연구가 진행되어왔으나 전쟁이라는 특수한 상황에서 제작된 외국어교재는 주목을 받지 못하였다. 따라서 본고는 6·25전쟁 당시 중국인민지원군이 제작한 외국어(조선어·영어)교재를 연구대상으로 삼아 사료적 측면에서 소개하고, 역사적 측면에서 제작목적과 과정을 살펴보았으며, 교육적 측면에서 지원군의 교육 및 학습방법을 고찰하였다.

From Chinese point of view, the Korean language and English language skills were required because Chinese participation in the Korean War was the first overseas deployment since the founding of China. The Chinese People’s Volunteer Army produced foreign language textbooks before participating in the Korean war and on the battlefield of Korean Peninsula so that they could use them. In the meantime, various studies have been conducted in academia regarding foreign language textbooks of the ancient and modern times, but foreign language textbooks produced in the special circumstances, such as war, have not given much attention. Therefore, this paper introduces historical materials using foreign language (Korean and English) textbooks produced by the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army during the Korean War. Also, this paper examines the purpose and process of production from the historical perspectives, and the training and learning methods of the Chines People’s Volunteer Army from the educational perspectives.
