이 글은 문재인 정부를 정치, 경제, 사회 분야에서 평가한다. 정치 분야에서 문재인 정부는 민주주의와 권력기관의 견제, 그리고 공직 사회의 청렴성을 제고하였다. 경제 분야에서 코로나 위기로 인한 부정적 효과를 차단하였고, 수출 등의 거시경제지표를 개선하였으며, 노동을 비롯한 다양한 경제주체들의 의견을 반영하였다. 사회 분야에서 문재인 정부는 지방자치법을 전면 개정하여 지역정치의 제도적 기반을 마련하였고, 진보적 가치를 강조하였다. 그러나 문재인 정부는 박근혜 정부 이후 새로운 리더십에 대한 기대를 충족하지 못하였고, 통치 스타일에서 이전 정부들과 변화된 모습을 보여주지 못하였다. 나아가 2010년대 이후 한국사회에서 가장 중요한 화두였던 경제민주화와 불평등 문제를 개선하지 못하였다. 오히려 부동산 가격의 폭등으로 구조적 불평등은 과거에 비해 악화되었다. 결론적으로 촛불항쟁 이후 한국 시민들은 새로운 통치리더십, 사회경제적 불평등의 완화, 그리고 보다 높은 공정과 도덕성을 원했으나, 문재인 정부는 이에 부응하지 못하였다.

This article evaluates the Moon Jae-in government in the areas of politics, economy, and society. The current government enhanced democracy, checks on coercive authorities, and the integrity of government officials in the political domain. This government contained the negative effects of COVID-19 on the Korean economy, improved macro-economic conditions such as exports, and reflected diverse economic actors such as labor in the economic arena. The government fully revised Local Autonomy Act to arrange institutional foundation of local politics and emphasized progressive values. However, the Moon Jae-in administration failed to meet the public expectation of new leadership after the Park Geun-hye government and did not show a different governing style from prior governments. Moreover, the incumbent government failed to improve inequality and economic democratization, which were the most urgent agendas during the 2010s. Indeed, rising real estate costs have worsened structural inequality in comparison with the past. In conclusion, Korean citizens wanted a new leadership style, a low level of economic inequality, and a high degree of fairness and morality after the Candlelight Protest, but the Moon Jae-in government did not satisfy these demands.
